I went to the club with some girlfriends during the war (we were fed up of staying at home scared) and it was packed to capacity, we could barely even move our arms.
A club is never the way to assess a country / city's situation (😂). With that said, most residents returned to Dubai, but I agree, it's not busier than pre war.
In just 24 hours, things have almost completely reversed in the Iran war.
Here's the latest:
- Netanyahu pushed for strikes on Iran before tomorrow's election. His chief pushed back in an "unprecedented" confrontation.
- Trump rejected Netanyahu's request for joint strikes, even as he endorsed him as an "outstanding Warrior Prime Minister".
- Saudi, Turkey & Pakistan sent top security officials to Tehran for urgent talks, while Qatar pushes to revive negotiations.
- Iran has offered to reopen Hormuz only if US lifts naval blockade.
- Brent crude fell to $115 on hopes of de-escalation
So what happens now?
The force posture in the region points to an escalation but an attack before midterms is unlikely.
The mediation efforts are a last ditch attempt to salvage a deal, but Iran has little incentive to strike one before midterms as does Trump post midterms.
So, we sit in this intolerable holding pattern...
I don't think I have loved anywhere as much as I love Penang.
Mind you it's only been 24 hours, and I am already so sad that I will have to leave in a few weeks.

When you're forced to monitor the situation because:
1. you trade; and
2. you live in the middle east 😂

Everyday it becomes evidently clear that the movie Idiocracy was in fact a documentary
No strikes today but imo something is brewing.
Especially when you consider the travel alerts being issued, even for the UAE, a Level 3, Reconsider Travel alert went out yesterday.

THERE IS ONE SPECIFIC REASON HE DECIDED TO ANNOUNCE THIS RIGHT BEFORE THE STOCK MARKET OPENS AGAIN…

Pretty much.
As of the past few weeks, debt markets have almost entirely shut off access to money for any company that doesn’t have substantial revenue independent of AI data centers.
SpaceX closed $40B of debt for GPUs, but we’re investment grade and have Starlink & launch revenue.
That means the 200+ neoclouds are going to see guppy-level death and consolidation. Some will make it through, but not many.
