A guy bought a $1,500 Samsung TV 3 years ago.
He watched it every single night. Sports looked blurry. Movies looked flat. The colors felt "off," but he figured that's just how TVs look and never thought twice about it.
Then his brother-in-law, a former Best Buy Magnolia home theater installer, came over for the game and grabbed the remote.
He changed 10 settings in under 8 minutes.
The motion blur disappeared. The picture got darker and richer in the evening. Faces stopped looking like a soap opera. The dialogue stopped getting buried under the music. The lag on the PlayStation vanished.
The guy stared at the screen and said: "This looks like a different TV."
His brother-in-law shrugged: "It's the same TV. You've been watching showroom mode for 3 years."

The US has no idea the world of hurt that it has ushered. It is truly soul-crushing to see some of the outcomes. My reaction is not based on partisan politics but rather a deep love and reverence for the US. Regrettably, American Exceptionalism is increasingly disappearing. I will continue fighting in the battle of ideas but I fear that this might be a fatal inflection point. May the America of the Founding Fathers eventually prevail.
