First preprint from the lab, led by @rantinggev! We identify a metabolic bottleneck that helps set the pace of human development: low levels of the redox enzyme GPD1L limit NADH recycling. Boosting GPD1L mimics mouse cells and accelerates development! biorxiv.org/content/10.64898…

Spotlight: The first to establish alanine metabolism as a potential therapeutic target for fibrotic diseases👇 doi.org/10.1172/jci.insight.… William M. Oldham @wm_oldham & team @BrownMedicine report scar-forming cells in #PulmonaryFibrosis rely on alanine as a metabolic building block and simultaneously blocking its synthesis and uptake suppresses #fibrosis in human lung tissue. Two for Thursday: We want to highlight another fantastic collaboration, this time with William Oldham's lab at Brown University and our @N8Krah, demonstrating that MCT4 is a druggable target in pulmonary fibrosis. Check it out here: science.org/doi/10.1126/scit… @UofUHematology @huntsmancancer Congrats to everyone involved!

Why do some genetic mutations devastate specific tissues while sparing others? We explore this question in GGC repeat disorders, revealing a mechanism linking protein aggregation to tRNA splicing failure in the brain. 🧵 on our new paper in Science: 🔗 science.org/doi/10.1126/scie…

Happy to share the final version of this work where we incorporated isotope labeled CO2 data into mass spec-based flux analysis framework to build a whole-body flux model of energy metabolism. Full article access here: authors.elsevier.com/a/1keM5… @yuanbogeneral
Happy to share a preprint on our effort of building whole-body flux models. We integrated the key organismal metabolic parameter CO2 production rate and also its isotope labeling into the in vivo isotope tracing framework.
