Argon is a model I *actually* enjoy using. They did a great job.
Introducing Gemini 4 Argon – our new frontier model. It’s built for complex workflows across coding, enterprise knowledge work, and cybersecurity defense – rolling out today to a set of trusted testers through our Fairwind Program.

I’m much more concerned about a few companies and countries coordinating to maintain exclusive control over what super intelligence is allowed to do than I am about some AI-doomsday. This all reads as some combination of negligence and self-serving fear mongering.
We Must Pace the Frontier: I’ve written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so. Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We’ll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess models’ alignment during training. You can read the full post here: darioamodei.com/post/we-must…

What interesting timing.
JUST IN: California Gov. Gavin Newsom signs two AI safety bills regulating outside audits of AI systems, with backing from Anthropic & OpenAI.

Why should a generative model be diverse? 👀 If there’s an obviously best answer, why put probability on worse ones? New paper: a perspective on what diversity is *for*, and an algorithm on post-training for the right amount 🌹. 🧵🔽 [1/12]

Replying to @deanwball
The "ungovernability" (and openness) of Linux and the Internet is precisely what has made their success. The same will be true of open weight AI foundation models.

Thrilled to share our new #NeurIPS2025 paper done at @GoogleDeepMind, Plasticity as the Mirror of Empowerment We prove every agent faces a trade-off between its capacity to adapt (plasticity) and its capacity to steer (empowerment) Paper: david-abel.github.io/plastic… 🧵🧵🧵👇

OpenReview seems to be essentially down? I guess I’m not the only one submitting last minute NeurIPS reviews.

Pulling this over as research advice (for myself): Feedback beats planning It’s a lesson I have to relearn now and then because of the allure of an intuitive hypothesis.
I have never seen it expressed exactly like that, but I wholeheartedly endorse it: Feedback beats planning. My plea at Meta was “No grand plans, follow the gradient of user value”.

Very pleased to share our recent work, in which we use LLMs for automated discovery of interpretable models of animal behavior 🪰🐀🕵️‍♀️ that take the form of Python programs 🐍 See below for a summary of key results by @pcastr!
Can LLMs be used to discover interpretable models of human and animal behavior?🤔 Turns out: yes! Thrilled to share our latest preprint where we used FunSearch to automatically discover symbolic cognitive models of behavior. 1/12
