Ask a group of people a philosophical question and it’s often the case that they'll give conflicting answers to it. We quite naturally interpret this as different people having different intuitions. But that's not the only available explanation... dailynous.com/2026/10/23/whe…

There hasn't been enough attention to this amazing result, and I'd love to hear ideas about how to explain it Participants are given a story about a morally bad behavior that it is due to genetics. Then they are asked the simplest possible question: Is it due to genetics?

In other words, the answer to the question is already given explicitly within the study materials. People are told that a bad thing is genetic and then asked whether it is genetic Yet, amazingly, many participants say "No"! They explicitly reject the whole premise

Causal modeling fans! Tadeg Quilien has an amazing new app that implements a few different theories about how people make causal strength judgments. You specify a model, and it calculates what each theory predicts about people’s judgments

I am still just SO excited that Felipe De Brigard got a MacArthur Genius Grant! He has done so much amazing work in experimental philosophy, cognitive neuroscience, and a million other fields, and it's absolutely wonderful to see him getting recognized like this
We're thrilled to share that Felipe De Brigard has been named a 2026 MacArthur Genius Fellow for his work reshaping our understanding of the nature and function of memory. Felipe is the co-editor of "Neuroscience and Philosophy II,” publishing next month: bit.ly/4ABPYuF

There has been a huge amount of experimental philosophy research on the concept of KNOWLEDGE This research finds that the ordinary concept doesn’t work in anything like the way philosophers said it does A thread with some examples: 🧵

What we see with experimental studies on the concept of knowledge is very different from what we see with other concepts Just in this one specific case, philosophers seem to talking about something very complex that is wildly out of step with the (much simpler) ordinary concept

There hasn’t been enough discussion in philosophy of this wonderful research by April Bailey (@ahbailey04) She provides a mountain of evidence for the claim that people see MEN as the prototype of the category of human beings researchgate.net/profile/Apr…
