NEW in NYT: "Everyone in North Carolina seems to know Roy Cooper... His broad appeal goes beyond policy. He appears most excited when talking about the Carolina Hurricanes hockey team."
"NC voters describe Cooper as approachable, moderate and genuine."

Drew's onto something. Black Democrats like Sanford Bishop, Scott Colom and Don Davis will likely overperform this cycle. There's plenty of reasons why Black Democrats in the South do well. One reason? They aren't as anxious talking about God as white Democrats.
Wild that I wrote this almost seven years ago. I'm very proud of it. centerforpolitics.org/crysta…

DGA is proud to support Keisha Lance Bottoms and to be her largest donor. Let's win!

GAS PRICES AND RURAL IMPACT: "Rural voters really are the focus for the democratic party right now. No bigger example of the gas prices debate that we continue to have exists more than rural voters. They drive 40 minutes to work, 20 minutes to church, 30 minutes to get to the grocery store or the doctor. The prices matter most for that demographic. Not just for the midterms. The party can convince rural voters to vote for them now can also convince that demographic to vote for them in 2028." @yemisi

MOBILIZING THE BASE VS. PUBLIC SERVICE: "Where I think she made a misstep is you are talking about a younger generation. Kids coming out of college are layers removed from the Oval Office... I don’t think you should ever dissuade a younger generation from working for public service. I worked in the Senate. I worked in the White House. I think they are great fantastic jobs." @yemisi
"She wants to deter young people from getting involved because, because basically, their lives could be made a living hell by people with power like her seeking more power. That’s the message, very clearly being telegraphed openly, shamelessly there." @guypbenson

To Yemisi's point, there are over 3,000 pending lawsuits about sexual assault/misconduct against Uber at the moment.
Tbh, one of the biggest reasons I’ve pushed for Waymo in DC is safety, and that includes safety inside the vehicle. And Uber/Lyft aren't rolling out options to request women drivers just because! There have been serious issues with women experiencing harassment and stalking in rideshares. That doesn't mean every driver is dangerous, so don’t even go there. But if someone wants to take one potential risk factor out of getting home safely, why block that option?

Third Way's Yemisi Egbewole: I think it is unfair for AIPAC to hold a heavier weight than other members that get money from crypto, AI, big pharma, oil & gas
If you are in Congress and you have a very deeply Jewish pocket, it would almost be suicidal to not accept any AIPAC money because I think that base would generally turn on you.
Mehdi Hasan: Do you think the 2028 candidate will have to be more pro Palestinian, less pro Israel?
Yemisi: I think the 2028 candidate is going to have to be more conscious of this geopolitical situation than they have been in 2020 or 2016.

Democrats need to find a way to say “law and order” without actually saying “law and order.”

same. i love the subway, i love the accessibility of nyc because of public transport, but it seems like we are the only country where our “progressives” believe the function of trains/stations is to serve as homeless shelters, havens for antisocial actors, safe injection sites, etc. all for free since fare evasion is a good thing, apparently. nowhere else in the world would riders say “if someone is smoking meth on the train, don’t be a little bitch about it!” like, why do we want miserable experiences for our citizens??? why do we not want safe, clean, well-functioning, well-funded transit???

.@nytimes polling shows center-left Dems are escaping the party’s far-left brand - the GOP effort has been an utter disaster
Change in candidate being “too far left” between June & Sept 2026:
Peltola 36%->36% (+0)
Turek 25%->30% (+5)
Brown 36%->37% (+1)
Talarico 39%->40% (+1)

Between Warnock, Talarico, Adam Hamilton. There’s a ton of proof religious Dems outperform. Democrats can absolutely be the party of faith, family and country. Democrats went way left on culture and we need to get back to our roots.
Senator Raphael Warnock (D-GA), quoted by the Washington Sun.
“I think Democrats make a huge mistake when we cede all this ground, when we cede all the terrain around faith and values to Republicans.”
“Why would we do that? Especially given the fact that on matters of morality, in my view, they’ve got so much of it wrong.”
