Most crimes aren’t solved. If you murder someone, it’s essentially a coin flip whether you’ll be arrested for it. If you steal a car, you’ll almost certainly get away with it.
Increasing the probability that would-be offenders get caught has a huge deterrent effect. (There is lots of strong empirical evidence showing this.) I genuinely believe that doing so is our ticket out of mass incarceration. It’s time to start investing time, energy, and money in finding ways to increase solve rates.
Seems like Memphis needs to copy this …

Anyway i’d challenge any in sports media to say they’d put $10,000 on SMU to win vs. Bama, Miami, Ole Miss or So. Carolina on neutral field (or on Dallas for that matter). They wouldn’t — just like last year with FSU they wouldn’t have put $$$ where the righteous indignation was.
