The Pacers salary cap situation means it is effectively impossible for Johnson to remain on the team heading into the regular season.
Johnson told me last summer he had no plans to retire. Pacers didn't have a spot for him last year.

So the Pacers basically traded Keaton Wagler and Isaiah Jackson for Ivica Zubac and Kobe Brown.

Indiana has now signed Kobe Brown and Jalen Slawson to two-way deals this offseason.
Ethan Thompson is also on a two-way deal, but @DustinDopirak reported Braden Smith would be signed to one, however that transaction has not officially happened yet.
It is worth noting that Indiana has enough first apron space to sign Smith to a standard deal if they would like to keep Thompson around on a two-way, but there’s been no indication of that.
What we do know is that either Ethan Thompson or Braden Smith will get the last two-way spot.
The Indiana Pacers and Jalen Slawson have agreed to a two-way deal, league sources told @hoopshype. Slawson averaged 7.3 points on 44.2% shooting from the field and 37.5% from 3-point range, 4.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.1 blocks in 13 games for Indiana last season

Replying to @Pacers
Slick Leonard was truly one of the finest human beings I’ve ever known.
From the very first day I joined the Pacers, he sat me down and made sure I understood the history of this team—the blood, sweat, and pride that came before me. But more than anything, he looked me in the eye and told me something I’ve carried with me ever since: always leave it better than the person who came before you.
That wasn’t just advice to him. It was how he lived. He poured his heart into this franchise, this city, and every person who was lucky enough to cross his path. He made everyone around him better—players, coaches, fans, broadcasters. He left this game, this organization, and so many lives richer simply because he was in them.
Thank you, Slick. For the wisdom, the kindness, the laughter, and the standard you set. You didn’t just talk about leaving things better—you showed us how to do it every single day.
Rest easy, my friend. You left this world better than you found it.
@pacers forever!
