Any day now the #SCOTUS will announce a ruling on the biggest abortion case since Dobbs. Telehealth abortion is at risk. As a scientist who studies abortion, here's why that worries me. ⤵️

With Gov. Newsom’s signing of SB 345, health care providers, physically located in California, will be able to offer a lifeline to people in states that have cut off access to essential care, and be shielded from the draconian laws of those states.

"At 16, I had sex without birth control because I couldn't access it under the prescription-only system. This is even more likely in my home state of Texas today, as a judge has banned young people from getting birth control without parental consent"

Replying to @RewireNewsGroup
Now we have a speaker from Texas sharing a personal story of being unable to access the birth control pill because her parents said no. She now lives in Alabama, she says, and her university system reports to her insurance and parents the exams and prescriptions she is given.

Dr. Anna Glasier says data shows that people aren't 100% perfect at taking birth control pills even when they're prescribed by doctors. One study even sent people daily reminders and still a lot of them missed some pills. Prescriptions don't = perfect adherence

Let's get A1709 to the floor! NY abortion providers will be protected (from politicians in anti-abortion states) & free to help women in those states get medication abortion pills.
