I've been trying to expose this happening in too many schools for years.
This is one lid off one of many very large cans of worms.
It's sickening, but this is the reality of many children's school days.

This is where it starts @RamseyjJane @Paulscriven @KeeleyMP @BaronessHollins @LizBarkerLords. This is not an isolated case by any means. And by the time our traumatised children end up in psychiatric hospitals, sometimes years later, the damage can never be undone.
We need to act on all the reviews that have already been done with:
Ringfenced, audited funding where the spending is then evaluated over time.
Full Accountability.

Seclusion+restraint practices systemic in 'specialist' provisions. Schools use barbaric force to deal with distress+overwhelm caused by the school not meeting child's needs. Parents who challenge this practice exposed to parent blame, labelled difficult or silenced.

Hi Richard. Mum to 2 autistic children in Leeds. Long term struggle to access provision. Produced study suggesting parent blame systemic and used (in part) to deny limited support inc education. Trying to get report discussed by changemakers.

There is a huge crisis in the services for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
I've secured a debate in Parliament this week on this crisis.
So many children are suffering and their families left totally exhausted by this situation.
A lot of people have already shared their experiences with me and I will try to make as many of these points as possible in the debate.
If you would like to share your experience of SEND provision, then please do so below.

School was the worst experience for our daughter and left her with school based trauma. Time for the government to wake up to the fact school is not the right environment for every child.
I make no apologies for saying the best place for children is in school.
The Tories tinkered around the edges of a generational challenge. Labour are gripping it.
This week must be back-to-school week, not just for some children, but for all children.

Does ‘all children’ include autistic children and children with a learning disability @bphillipsonMP?

Disability activists are set to deliver 650 copies of The Department by @johnpringdns to the House of Commons – a copy for every MP. 📚
The book argues that DWP actions have led to “the deaths of hundreds, if not thousands, of disabled people”. ⬇️

- So infuriating, yet again according to @educationgovuk and @bphillipsonMP parents are to be penalised if an intervention does not work, when parents have no power or agency to influence the implementation or the success of that intervention. 2/3

There are lots of reasons why the right community care and support for people with learning disabilities and autistic people just isn’t there.
One of those reasons is the huge power imbalance that exists between professionals and people and families.
We asked our community to give us examples of statements professionals have made to them and put them in a video.
It’s very telling…watch by clicking on the link. And share.
