Here's my @CapX column, 'Labour’s mangled sixth-form-level Marxist class war' capx.co/labours-mangled-sixt… Emma Reynolds, the Chief Secretary to the Treasury, is one of the more sensible Labour MPs. She resigned as a front bencher when Jeremy Corbyn was elected leader and is firmly in the moderate wing of the Labour Party. Which is why her comment yesterday that ‘I don’t think employers are working people’ is all the more revealing – and all the more telling about the attitude of the government. Plainly, my description of Reynolds as one of the more sensible Labour MPs is relative. When even someone as relatively sensible as Reynolds believes that employers are a class that don’t work for a living but somehow live off the backs of ‘working people’ then it shows the scale of Labour’s inability to grasp even the basics of wealth creation and growth – and thus the scale of the problem for our economy. Reynolds was being interviewed on GB News by Camilla Tominey, who rightly picked up on her words. As if to ensure they weren’t a slip of the tongue or a misleading statement of her actual view, Tominey sought clarification. Reynolds dug in: ‘Let me say I don’t think employers are working people. They are companies.’ She went on: ‘I’m saying there is a difference between employers and employees. … The distinction I am drawing is between employees and employers’. It was, at least, enlightening to hear that a minister at the heart of economic policy holds a form of mangled sixth-form-level Marxist views about the working class and employers. With the exception of its five years under Corbyn, Labour have sought to portray themselves as a party which understands capitalism and which is best placed to make it work for the whole country. Reynolds has revealed that even those ministers at the vanguard of that purported understanding have, at root, a pastiche 19th century view of the nature of employers. Listening to Reynolds, I wondered if she would, like a good Marxist, move on to attacking the rentier class which lives off the assets created by others. And then I remembered that the Government has done just that. In the very Budget she was on TV to defend Labour imposed a cumulative increase of 4% on tax for rental income, with ministers defending the rises by characterising rental income as ‘unearned’ – as if landlords as a class simply sit on their backsides watching their exorbitant profit rolling in to their already over-fed bank accounts. Not for Labour the idea that the management, maintenance and risk involved in letting property might earn a reward. And Labour’s Renters’ Rights Act has abolished ‘no-fault’ evictions and increased tenants’ powers to challenge rent increases through tribunals. The Office for Budget Responsibility has warned that cumulative tax and regulatory pressures have resulted in a ‘material reduction in returns to private landlords,’ which risks discouraging new investors and driving existing landlords to sell their portfolios. Presumably that’s regarded as a good thing. Reynolds is no Marxist. But it’s damning of both her and Labour more generally that such a crude Marxist analysis of employers and employees drives their thinking, with no understanding of the nature of small and medium-sized businesses and how hard most employers work to create wealth and employment for their fellow working people. As one poster on social media put it: ‘It’s 7:41 on a Sunday, and I’m at my desk – guess I’m not a working person. My employees are not doing the same, I can tell you that (and I don’t expect or want them to!)’

Mayor @sadiqkhan is in trouble. On the A20 in Kent they changed a stretch from 70 mph to 40mph & clocked up £6.5 million in fines, as @HowardCCox says the scheme was signed off by the wrong person & the cash needs to be refunded. Also @noel_willcox may bankrupt Khan & @tfl as £400 million of dubious ULEZ fines were levied. express.co.uk/news/politics/…

We are being taken for absolute fools! Meet Atikur Rahman, 34, from 'Margate': delivery driver by day, professional baby-maker, midwife, and multi-identity fraud artist by night. Lied his way into £172k of Universal Credit, Tax Credits, Child Benefit and my personal favourite Maternity Allowance, using 26 stolen identities, fake kids (some abroad, some imaginary), and the sheer audacity of pretending to be a woman. Also had a crack at £62k of Eat Out to Help Out while he was at it. A poxy 40 months sentence. What a guy.

Just 18% of the participants who responded to Labour’s consultation on immigration were British citizens. Roughly 75% were "current visa holders." Why on earth was this allowed? They have no stake in the UK.

This is MIND BLOWING. This Labour Government is making migrant policy to suit the wishes of foreigners and not those of British citizens. This is a national outrage.
"We ran a consultation where we asked a large number of visa holders about reforms to visa rules, and they said you should make the rules less stringent"

Explosive scenes as Chris Philp blasts the outrageous new immigration "Earned Settlement" policy of Shabana Mahmood that will let any fucker and their dog into the UK and will cost you a fucking fortune. The UK has fallen.
Ministerial statement: Earned Settlement With a look of fear in her eyes, as she knows Louise Haigh and Lucy Powell (sat behind her) are out to get her, Shabana Mahmood bottles it, and using her family as a sob story, she waters down her immigration policy, making it useless and weak, much like herself.

Nigel Farage and Zia Yusuf full press Q&A in response to Shabana Mahmood’s U-turn on immigration. The usual masterclass. Imagine a Labour or Tory Party government doing the same. Never happens. This is how real government should be. Farage and Yusuf answering questions directly and setting out a clear alternative is the standard the public should expect from those who want to run the country. @ZiaYusufUK @Nigel_Farage

I suspect that the 50 investors who lost £5million in a betting syndicate run by Rory Campbell ( son of Socialist gobshite Alastair Campbell) will be none to pleased to learn has has started a new venture. After all Campbell,38, is still on bail having been arrested back in September last year on suspicion of fraud by false representation relating to the syndicate. Campbell owns 60% of the new business. He gives his address as near Taunton, Somerset. There are two other directors owning 20% each. One is Aaron Edgeworth who is said to have broken the bad news to the investors that their money ( some had put in between £25,000 to £500,000) was unlikely to paid. Campbell’s people ( surprised he could afford comms) described these accounts as “ incomplete and inaccurate”. Not positive what the business will do but it’s called 6th Man Data Intelligence which may give a clue. Campbell hasn’t said a word since the scandal broke. Perhaps the next time his father is on a podcast or Question Time he might lift the lid on the murky goings on. And explain what his boy is doing now living in the rural hamlet of Wrantsge - 7 miles from Taunton- whereas his previous hangout was East London. All very odd.

🚨Henry Nowak was stabbed five times. While dying he told police nine times he couldn’t breathe and had been stabbed. They handcuffed him anyway after his killer lied about a racial attack. His family have now gone on television to say exactly how that night destroyed them. They are right to feel let down. This is what happens when a false allegation is believed over a dying man’s words.
