What an honor to see Indian culture on display at City Hall especially during Navaratri & Diwali season. Thanks @voteshekar & @NYHistory!
There’s a sari exhibit at City Hall featuring those worn by Mira Nair, a filmmaker and @nycmayor’s mom, and one worn by @CMShahanaHanif when she was sworn into the council

This might be a perfect campaign video
Texas was built by hope. By people who had no business believing — but believed anyway. To every Texan who’s ever wondered if anyone in power is paying attention: We are taking our state back. Because a little bit of hope is a dangerous thing.

It’s official.
Liza Minnelli has outlived the horse-drawn carriages that have dangerously clopped through Central Park for over 150 years. The New York City Council voted today to banish them.

This week, I was blessed to join Hindu New Yorkers in Queens celebrating Navratri, Durga Puja, Dashain, and Vijayadashami.  We danced garba, performed aarti, witnessed Sindoor Khela, and honored the Goddess Durga. It was an honor to come together in joy, faith, and community in temples across our city — especially after the attempted mass shooting at a Hindu temple in Illinois last week. May we all join together in our shared responsibility to stand against hate and care for one another. Jai Mata Ki.

Bruce Blakeman might as well be the president of Trump's loser fan club. He doesn’t have the spine to stand up for New York families. He answers to one person and one person only — Donald Trump.

This afternoon in Marble Hill, a New Yorker was shot by an ICE agent in a residential neighborhood. Early reports indicate agents surrounded him and a 5-year-old child in his car before firing multiple rounds. We believe the child was physically unharmed. This is an unconscionable and incredibly serious situation. I have called the President; when we speak I will demand that he ends all ICE enforcement actions in our city. I will not stand by while ICE agents terrorize our communities. Our thoughts are with the injured New Yorker and his family tonight. We are praying for his recovery. Get ICE out of our neighborhoods. Get ICE out of our hospitals. Get ICE off our streets. Get ICE away from our children. Abolish ICE.

Recap of AI hearing so far: The AI companies LOVE safety. It's their #1 priority. How safe are their models? No idea. How likely is a catastrophe? Couldn't say. Who's responsible if something goes wrong? Uncertain. But safety? Their favorite thing. 100% for certain.

In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.

The @NYCCouncil held a first-in-the-nation hearing to question @claudeai, @openai, @google, and @meta about the societal risks posed by AI. My bill, Int. T2600-2026, would create a private right of action, allowing New Yorkers to sue AI companies when foreseeable misuse of their technology causes harm that reasonable safeguards could have prevented. New Yorkers deserve a way to seek justice when harm occurs.

I believe that @OpenAI just committed perjury. They were sworn in, under oath, and repeatedly said they supported the RAISE Act. I guess they assume that no court will ever hold them accountable?

This is their official position. And it is a lie. And if @OpenAI's Gov Affairs team lies about something so easy to fact check, how much should we trust them on things they do behind closed doors?
The OpenAI spox just said again that they worked on and supported the RAISE Act ...?

Hey, @VickieforNYC, quick question. Since when is being an educator for more than 20 years not an “actual job”? I’m sure the teachers in your district would disagree. We already knew that you don’t care about working families in NYC, but thanks for confirming.
Correct. People have NO IDEA how much of our city government is now run by literal children who’ve never held a job. It’s not just Zohran. He’s just the most prominent. Everyone in that picture is an elected official in NYC and not one of them has ever had an actual job, or any real life experience for that matter. And most of them are rich kids also.

Q: China is one of the most repressive countries for journalists in the world. What signal does it send?  Trump: I don't know about that. I think we're repressive also.

.@linamkhan tells @cwarzel that AI leaders are warning of their products’ potentially catastrophic effects while preparing to take their companies public. If that behavior were applied “to every other industry, we would think that was ludicrous,” she says. theatln.tc/65NUk0Q9 #TAF26
