Long probably too nuanced convo to have here on twitter :) Know a decent amount on this subject having a dad who’s a public defender, aunt who’s a DA, grandpa who was a judge, and a brother who’s been in high security sections of prison for 9 years. There’s a lot of factors to this, those stats are only telling part of the story. I can assure you though having just come from visitation in said high security prison with my brother it ain’t not walk in the park. Think a lot of the re-arrest shit is due to the type of person in general, the charges, the fact that they’re unemployable and cut off from all ties, mentally unstable, tormented…it sure as hell ain’t rehabilitating people I can tell ya that.

I get the sentiment here, but also prison ain’t a walk in the park. Anywhere you gotta worry about being stabbed 24/7 or electrocuted by a makeshift extension cord isn’t exactly summer camp. The “food” is expired leftovers, and slop. The mental and physical abuse is plentiful.
