I disagree with Chuck. Today’s NBA requires constant switching 1-5, defensive rotations, acceleration, deceleration and guarding multiple positions. Less contact doesn’t mean less physical stress.
In previous generations, teams had more clearly defined positional responsibilities. A center could spend most of his game mins protecting the paint, defending post players and rebounding. A perimeter defender assigned to a limited offensive player could conserve energy. Today’s defensive schemes demand way more versatility.
And let’s not romanticize previous generations either lol. Players were notoriously known for coming into training camp out of shape, smoking cigarettes and drinking regularly. Today’s players have far more sophisticated year round conditioning and preparation.
The physical demands of basketball have evolved considerably. Comparing generations solely by how much they practiced ignores how differently the game is played today.

After last night, Year 24 LeBron is now holding opponents to 26.5% FG.
They’re shooting 13/49 when guarded by him.
That ranks NUMBER 1 in the entire NBA. 🔒
I’m legitimately concerned for Bron haters
They don’t realize how much their interest in basketball is tied to him playing
Once he’s gone, there will be nothing else for them to do
Bron haters have no shame man
Niggas be fighting over who can get his attention first
Charles Barkley calls LeBron James’ supporters “Stepford Wives,” ranks Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant ahead of him, and credits Magic Johnson and Larry Bird with transforming the NBA
Barkley says he has nothing but love and admiration for LeBron, whom he ranks third behind Jordan and Kobe. His frustration is with the people around LeBron who treat any disagreement about his legacy as unacceptable. He also credits Magic and Bird with transforming the NBA’s popularity and business, arguing that Jordan took their impact to another level. Barkley says basketball debates have become too personal, with people treating differing opinions as reasons to hate each other.
I’ve said this in so many ways before
Center is the WORST position in the NBA to pay a ton of money to
They’re the most replaceable spot on the floor

And this is why injuries will continue to pile up
There are too many retards who will argue against the simple reality of the game being much faster now

This is more evidence that the NBA is not an 82-game sport anymore.
The old slower style was a good pace for 82 games. Slow, methodical, slowly probing the defense and figuring out ways to win.
The NBA is way more physical, fast and demanding now. It's smarter, faster, more chaotic.
It's more in the 36-40 game schedule range, like soccer. A physically demanding 2-hour slugfest, once or twice a week.

I need one lottery team to sacrifice a season for science: slow the pace, ditch the 3s, play the star 40+ minutes, feed post-ups, live in the midrange, and play the “right way.”
Let them get blown out by 40 until the middy fetishists finally understand why basketball evolved.
Luka has 7 of the Top 25 highest usage rate seasons EVER
He also has 3 in the Top 10
He had a 38% usage rate with LEBRON JAMES on his team last year
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bigger ball hog in all my years
Difference between him and most of the others is they were FORCED into doing it
Whereas Luka seems to be aiming to play this way
How are you the primary ballhandler and basically calling your own number five possessions in a row?
How are you launching 10 shots in 1st quarters?
How come the ‘LeStackedTeam truthers’ never list any of LeBron’s teams on their All-Time lists?
"I guess [LeBron James] got six or seven championships then. Oh, he doesn't. ... I ain't got nothing but respect for LeBron, but don't sit up there and tell me he got four Hall of Fame careers. If he gonna stack his team like that, he should have more than four championships."

Most important years are 26-35 tbh
- Often the early to mid stages of your career, esp for pivoting or advancing
- Common age range for (first) marriages
- Most active stage in terms of an unadulterated social life
Most ppl either set themselves back tremendously or excel
There’s also the MLB idea where guys are never actually expected to play all 82
But then we’d have to listen to people bitch about “load management”
