Good thing we have a Miami chapter with plenty of Cuban American and immigrant members! If you live in Miami and can see through imperialist propaganda, join DSA at dsausa.org/join . It’s super quick and you get to meet the coolest people.
Communism works so well that Cubans try to flee it on rafts made of garbage. The Smithsonian Museum has an exhibit featuring the Cuban rafts. DSA socialists should go to Miami and try to convince a Cuban immigrant that they'll implement communism better. smithsonianmag.com/smithsoni…

We demand that Mayor Zohran Mamdani fire NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch and use every power available to him to drive ICE out of New York City. We further demand the mayor abolish the NYPD’s Strategic Response Group (SRG) and Community Response Team (CRT).

I dont doubt that Larkin in office would need to be making compromises the same way Mamdani has. The actual endearing part about Larkin, at least for me, is that he was always more consistently and effectively centering DSA and WDM in his campaign than any other of our electeds.
people on the “left” love Oliver because they can always compare a real term of office, with all of its contradictions and messiness, to a hypothetical perfect term Oliver could have had. It’s like being compared to a hypothetical sibling that came out stillborn

Our Miami DSA chapter is very different from LA. We would have never in a million years endorsed Raman. I believe endorsements should be for as close to a “DSA candidate” that represent our program and fight for it. The AOCs or Nixons I would support an IE to have our own message

I’m uncertain what will happen with Lula. But I do believe it is vital we learn from the sustained setbacks to left wing “pink tide” governments. Yes, of course US intervention plays a major role, but as we pursue similar power in our own country, we must confront this.

I am sometimes asked the difference between R&R and B&R’s approaches. I think the different outcomes of the NPC in its first year of the term and since B&R became the swing vote are indicative.

serious politics post: in R&R we believe we have two tasks we must carry out simultaneously. We must work to rebuild the power of the movement of the working class overall *while* building a strong Marxist core. These tasks are diametrically intertwined

I do not think B&R are being hypocritical in their positions—I just think they’re incorrect. But it seems quite strange to claim they have always held the same positions when 1) they supported a poll for Bernie 2020 2) They wrote a resolution for 2025 convention mandating a poll

I am obviously frustrated at the way the procedural debate went on the NPC. In fact, R&R were the only caucus to support both a poll *and* a convention decision. However, now this debate is over let us please move on to the real debate: Whether, and if so how, to endorse AOC

It’s unfortunate that the NPC decided to reject YDSA’s appointments of the Presidential Exploratory Committee. If we truly want a robust and effective intervention in 2028 the youth wing of DSA and our campus organizing will be indispensable.

A socialist program must now more than ever include a new radical green vision of nationalization and democratic control of the economy that not just seeks GND style transition from fossil fuels but embrace Degrowth (of wasteful industries) and focuses on quality of life for all
The world will zoom well past its target for global temperature rise in the next few years, a first-of-its-kind U.N. report warned, exposing people and ecosystems to profound climate impacts that nations had pledged to avoid. wapo.st/4x7qjab

A Democratic Socialist and AntiZionist won the Election Day vote in Miami Dade county. Finished with 44% in Miami-Dade and 40% in Broward. Never giving up on home. A better South Florida is possible.

What a ride, what a campaign! As the results came in last night, I just felt so grateful at the fight we put up. By the end of it, our campaign did best in MIAMI-DADE (44%), and handily won Black, Latino, and working class voters. Thank you @OliverALarkin, it’s been a privilege!

The Hong and Larkin losses are painful but illustrate a fundamental difference between DSA and the two capitalist parties. Our power is measured by the number of working people who join the fight for a better world. Win or lose, DSA lays the foundation for future victories.

DSA is alive everywhere. Today, thousands upon thousands of South Floridians voted for a proud, open Democratic Socialist. This is a frontier; that which is the ceiling today will be the floor tomorrow. DSA is in Florida and is here to stay!
