I’ve used the same 4 EMAs for years.
Not because they predict where a stock will go, but because they help me read momentum, trend, and where a trade may be changing character.
Here’s how I use them:
1. EMA 8 & 21 — Short-term momentum. When a leader consistently respects both, I want to give it room.
2. EMA 65 — My intermediate trend line. A break can signal that the character of the move is changing.
3. EMA 200 — Long-term trend. I rarely want to own growth stocks trading below it.
But I don’t look at each EMA in isolation.
I pay attention when several EMAs cluster together. Those areas can become important decision zones as price compresses.
I also watch how often a stock tests an EMA. After repeated tests, especially the 3rd or 4th touch, I become more cautious. Support gets less meaningful when it has already been tested several times.
And I never add simply because price touches an EMA. I want to see the stock prove itself again through price action and volume.
These rules helped me stay with winners like $OPEN and $AEVA longer instead of letting normal volatility shake me out.
The EMA itself isn’t the edge.
Knowing how a strong stock should behave around it is.

This AI trading idea made me look like a fool.
I’ve been calibrating the ADX indicator for over 20 years. Thousands of parameter combinations across every major index market. So when I asked AI to improve my ADX filter on an E-mini NASDAQ strategy, I expected something marginal.
It proposed replacing part of my logic entirely.
Original strategy: $87K net profit, $23K drawdown.
After AI’s filter: $200K+ net profit, $13K drawdown.
Drawdown cut nearly in half. Profit more than doubled.
The strangest part? The AI’s suggestion was simpler than what I had. Not more complex. Simpler. It took one piece of the ADX logic and replaced it with a cleaner, more direct measurement of what ADX was trying to capture in the first place.
This doesn’t mean AI replaces experience. I still had to evaluate whether the improvement was genuine or just overfitting. I still ran it across multiple markets and out-of-sample data.
But AI spotted a pattern in indicator behavior that 25 years of screen time missed. When that happens, you’d be foolish to ignore it.
AI simplified what I spent 20 years making complex. That part is still sitting with me.

MY FINAL TRADING STRATEGY: 10/21 EMA + SUPERTREND (10,3)
The objective is simple: Catch big trends, protect capital, exit weakness and re-enter strength.
I don't want to predict tops and bottoms. I want to participate in the strongest part of a trend without surrendering my profits to emotion.
Here's my complete framework.
1. INDICATORS AND THEIR ROLES
🟠 10 EMA: Short-term momentum
🟢 21 EMA: Trend structure
🔵 50 DEMA: Dynamic support reference
🟣 Supertrend (10,3): Trend context and re-entry confirmation
2. ENTRY RULES
• 10 EMA crosses above 21 EMA.
• Enter on a pullback/retest of either EMA or a tight 3–5-day consolidation breakout.
• Wait for bullish price confirmation.
• Place the stop below the relevant swing low.
3. PROFIT-TAKING RULES
• At 4R: Book 25%.
• Second consecutive close below 10 EMA: Sell 25%.
• Second consecutive close below 21 EMA: Sell 25%.
• Confirmed lower high after 10 EMA crosses below 21 EMA: Exit the final 25%.
4. RE-ENTRY AND ADD-BACK RULES
• Close back above 10 EMA: Add 25%.
• Close back above 21 EMA: Add 25%.
• Confirmed higher low after bullish 10/21 EMA crossover: Add 25%.
• Breakout above previous pivot high: Add final 25%.
Each addition requires a valid setup and available risk capacity.
5. SUPERTREND (10,3): THE EXTRA EDGE
Supertrend is not my primary entry signal.
I use it to confirm whether the broader trend remains intact during pullbacks.
If price regains the 10/21 EMA while Supertrend remains green, my confidence in the re-entry improves.
If Supertrend turns red, I become more cautious.
Weekly Supertrend provides higher-timeframe context, but daily EMA signals drive execution.
6. RISK MANAGEMENT
• Fixed risk budget per trade.
• Position size determined by stop distance.
• No averaging down.
• No widening stops to avoid losses.
• No overtrading sideways markets.
• Account for slippage and transaction costs.
THE PHILOSOPHY
The 10 EMA tells me when momentum is changing.
The 21 EMA tells me whether the trend is holding.
The 50 DEMA provides another structural reference.
Supertrend helps me distinguish a potentially constructive pullback from deteriorating trend conditions.
None of these indicators guarantees an outcome. Their value lies in making decisions systematic.
I don't need to catch the exact bottom. I don't need to sell the exact top.
I need to enter when strength emerges, reduce exposure when weakness persists and rebuild positions when strength returns.
The goal is not to be right on every trade. The goal is to stay in the game long enough to capture the trends that matter.
Trade the trend. Respect the risk. Let winners run.

my friend's wife is an insurance actuary
she calculates risk for a living
literally gets paid $280K/year to put a precise number on the probability of bad things happening
not a rough estimate. not a feeling
a number with six decimal places that determines whether an insurance company stays rich or goes bankrupt
she looked at my trading data for 15 minutes and said something that completely changed how I think about position sizing
"you're risking too much on every trade and you don't even realize it, because you're thinking about risk wrong"
I risk 1% per trade. that's conservative.
"no, you're thinking about single-trade risk, I think about RUIN risk, they're completely different calculations"
"and every trading educator ignores the second one"
what's the difference?
single-trade risk asks: how much can I lose on THIS trade?
ruin risk asks: given my win rate and my position size, what's the probability that a statistically inevitable losing streak will destroy my account?
the first question is about one trade
the second question is about survival over 1,000 trades
one matters for today
the other determines whether you have a career
she pulled up a spreadsheet she built in 20 minutes:
at 1% risk per trade with a 55% win rate:
probability of hitting a 10-trade losing streak over 1,000 trades: 83%
drawdown during that streak: 10%
probability of recovery: 97%
time to recover: approximately 40-60 trades
verdict: survivable. uncomfortable but survivable
at 2% risk per trade with the same 55% win rate:
probability of hitting a 10-trade losing streak: 83% (same, variance doesn't care about your position size)
drawdown during that streak: 20%
probability of recovery: 71%
time to recover: approximately 80-120 trades
verdict: dangerous. most traders psychologically break before recovery completes
at 3% risk per trade:
same losing streak probability: 83%
drawdown: 30%
probability of recovery: 34%
time to recover: 150+ trades IF you recover at all
verdict: account death sentence. two out of three traders at this risk never recover
the losing streak WILL happen
the math guarantees it over a large enough sample
the only question is whether your position sizing allows you to survive it when it arrives
not if. when.
then she said the part that hit hardest:
"insurance companies don't go bankrupt from one claim, they go bankrupt from miscalculating the probability of clustered claims"
a hurricane doesn't destroy one house
it destroys 10,000 houses in the same week
your losing streak is a clustered claim
8-10 losses hitting your account in rapid succession
if you haven't priced that clustered event into your risk model, you're an uninsured trader pretending to manage risk
here is the exact formula:
MAXIMUM RISK = (acceptable max drawdown) / (expected max losing streak)
if your acceptable max drawdown is 10%
and your expected max losing streak is 8 trades (conservative for a 55% win rate):
10% / 8 = 1.25% per trade
anything above 1.25% and you're mathematically likely to blow the account within 1,000 trades
not "might" blow it
WILL blow it
"but most traders risk 2-3%"
yeah and most traders blow their accounts
you mfs all argue about 1% vs 2% vs 3% like it's a preference
"'I'm aggressive, I risk 3%'"
"'I'm conservative, I risk 1%'"
that should not be a preference. it should be math
math has the right answer specific to YOUR win rate and YOUR drawdown tolerance
I recalculated every trader in my community using her formula
the ones making consistent money month after month:
all within 0.2% of their calculated optimal risk
whether they knew the formula or not
they'd intuitively landed on the right number through trial and error and blown accounts
the ones blowing accounts every 2-3 months:
all 40-60% ABOVE their optimal risk
every single one
they weren't undisciplined
they weren't bad traders
they weren't unlucky
the losing streak showed up
their position sizing couldn't survive it
the account died
not because they were wrong about the market
because they were wrong about the math of survival
if you want me to run the actual calculation for your win rate and drawdown tolerance, drop it in the community, everybody can access it for free with the link in bio. we'll tell you exactly what number you should be risking. not a guess. the math.

this trading prompt is f*cking gold
stop asking AI to "build a profitable strategy."
make it explain exactly when to enter, when to exit, and when the entire idea is wrong.
i wrote one prompt that turns "buy the dip" into a mean reversion strategy specification:
reference price → deviation → entry → sizing → exit → invalidation
then it has to walk through three scenarios:
a winning trade.
a losing trade.
a setup it should refuse to trade.
no code until the rules are explicit.
no invented backtest results.
no hiding behind "price should bounce."
the full prompt is in the image.
save it before your next strategy build.

The 1:1 RR ORB strategy
IS ACTUALLY INSANE
Mark the range formed between 9:30AM – 9:45AM EST (Opening range / ORB)
• If the ORB low forms first → target the ORB high
What is ORB? ORB = opening range breakout (the first 15 min candle of New York Open)
6 months NQ Stats via @edgeful
• ORB low forms first → 79% of the time NQ breaks the ORB high first
