Yes, but the suprising detail is that the population pattern of activation by norepinephrine did not correlate with the population pattern of activation arousal (which is thought to be mediated by norepinephrine for astrocytes).

Very excited to share our new preprint! We explore the link between the locus coeruleus (LC) and arousal for astrocytes, pyramidal cells, interneurons in the hippocampus. A fantastic collaboration with Sian Duss @BohacekLab, and many others: biorxiv.org/content/10.64898… 1/5

6/ But is ELS always like this? We mapped each mouse into a behavioral similarity space (@BohacekLab), with a behavioral score of how ELS or control-like each animal behaved. About 30% of ELS mice looked like controls with richer, flexible repertoires: resilient individuals?

I’m so sorry! Writing animal licenses in Switzerland was a nightmare—I was constantly typing and deleting 🧵. So glad to be in the US now. It’s so much better here. I’ll never understand why Swiss researchers are crushed like that, with 0.0% benefit to the animal well being…

I also have an impression that our stress protocols face more resistance than our colleagues' cancer and neonatal ischemia models. Maybe society sees these diseases as a bigger health burden and better justification for the animal experiments than when it comes to depression.

This is, in my opinion, a landmark paper demonstrating the impact of animal fMRI in helping us visualize how the frequency tuning properties of a tiny brain nucleus influence distinct brain-wide patterns!
🔔🔵After nearly 5 years from its conception with @BohacekLab, I'm proud to share that our paper on opto-fMRI of the Locus Coeruleus is finally published in @NatureNeuro! Huge thanks to everyone who contributed—including reviewers and editors! rdcu.be/dT3kB

With only so many hours in a day, many of us struggle to find the time to exercise. What allows us to maintain exercise-behavior when other activities vie for our attention? The first paper of my PhD published in @NatureNeuro suggests orexins! (1/8) nature.com/articles/s41593-0…
