President Herzog is right to speak out against extremist violence being perpetrated by some Jewish residents of the West Bank. These attacks are reprehensible and indefensible. The failure by the state to protect Palestinian civilians is a moral stain on the government.
I just called Washington Post photographer Heidi Levine, who was brutally attacked by violent rioters on Friday. As President of the State of Israel, I strongly condemn this outrageous and shocking violence, both the terrible attack on Heidi and other grave incidents of violence, such as what took place today in Taybeh. I expressed my deepest sorrow to Heidi and apologized for what she went through. The despicable behavior of the perpetrators of this attack does not represent the citizens or the values of the State of Israel. Israel is a democratic state governed by the rule of law, and it must act with full force against every form of violence. Each incident is being thoroughly investigated, and we await the findings. All government, security, and law enforcement authorities must use every means at their disposal to investigate thoroughly, apprehend these lawbreakers, and bring them to justice with the fullest extent of the law. On behalf of the entire nation, I wish Heidi good health and a speedy recovery.

Today, we remember those murdered in Hamas’ October 7 attack on Israel—and the survivors and families who carry that loss every day. Remembering also means refusing to be silent in the face of antisemitism. We must continue to speak out, stand together, and reject hate.

This is great news. Grateful for our state’s leadership and their commitment to protecting our immigrant neighbors.
Mass. lawmakers said they have struck a deal on a bill to protect immigrants in “sensitive locations” and build upon a court decision that bars local officials from holding a person in custody if they are wanted solely for civil immigration violations. trib.al/qYdz67P

We @BostonJCRC join in welcoming the #SCOTUS decision preserving birthright citizenship. The principle that if 'you are born here, you belong here' is a bedrock of our constitutional system and has helped to make this nation a great place for so many to thrive.

Wholeheartedly echoing this message from the Governor. Our Jewish community and institutions have proudly stood with our immigrant neighbors, including those living here in MA on #TPS - some for many decades now. And we will continue to stand with them in this challenging time.
SCOTUS’s decision to uphold Donald Trump’s cruel and harmful policy makes no sense and only hurts our immigrant families, our communities and our economy. Massachusetts stands with our Haitian and Syrian communities today and every day.

This is huge. MA is home to tens of thousands of hardworking Haitian TPS recipients who enrich the culture of our state, contribute to our economy & help ensure we meet the needs of elders and patients in our health care and elder care industries - this victory belongs to them.
BREAKING: Federal judge Ana Reyes blocks the Trump administration from ending the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) of more than 350,000 Haitian immigrants. In a scathing opinion, she says DHS Secretary Kristi Noem does not have the facts or law on her side. @CBSNews.
