Much of our education system bought into a disproven idea of how kids learn to read. For 2+ years, @ehanford and I tried to figure out how and why. I’m so excited to share what we’ve found. The first episodes in our six-part podcast drop tomorrow. features.apmreports.org/sold…

This incident raises enormously troubling questions about the Walz administration’s failed oversight of the state’s group home industry.
Sadly, Tim Walz and Amy Klobuchar have been more focused on advancing their national political ambitions than fighting Minnesota's fraud crisis. They took their eyes off Minnesota while the most vulnerable suffer and taxpayers are ripped off.
Minnesota can’t afford more of the same.

Yet another reason we need a full top-to-bottom audit of state government, full-out vetting, surprise inspections, tougher penalties — and some common sense.
I was on MPR this morning talking about how we get this done.
Minnesota taxpayers deserve better.
A new MPR report raises serious questions about how $36 million in taxpayer money ended up going to companies connected to a Liberian government official who now lives and works overseas, while some of the group homes faced repeated concerns about neglect.
The bigger issue is accountability.
We have seen fraud and abuse across Minnesota's Medicaid system, and too often the warning signs are there long before the state acts.
We need to ask three simple questions:
Who is getting the money?
What are they actually providing?
Why didn't the state catch the problems sooner?
People with disabilities depend on these programs. We need to protect those services by making sure taxpayer dollars go to legitimate providers, not bad actors.
Stop the fraud. Protect vulnerable Minnesotans. Demand accountability.
