Obama can only cope and seethe, because his plan for the Middle East was to use the IRGC and the threat of its nukes as an American proxy to bully Israel into capitulating to maximalist Arab territorial demands. So his legacy is total junk now because:
1. His successor, Trump, put in place the Abraham Accords, which divide the Arab opposition to Israel instead of dividing Israel against itself. These accords are here to stay, since they survived the bloodiest war of the entire Israeli-Arab conflict. No war of similar scope is really in prospect for the next 50 years, and the economic and military ties continue to deepen.
2. Sinwar’s folly brought about the collapse of the IRGC, its proxy network, and its nuclear programme as an existential threat to Israel. Israel is now too powerful, too unconstrained, and too independent of US support to allow that threat ever to reconstitute itself. So the lever in Obama’s plan is gone, and even if some Obama heir enters the White House in 2029, they will not have the leverage over Israel they need.
3. Equally, just as the threat Obama wanted to dangle over Israel to soften it up in negotiations with the PA and Hamas has been neutered by the successes of the last three years of war, the people of Israel have hardened against territorial compromise. Israel is a democracy, so its people have a collective veto on any such compromise. There is absolutely no chance that the younger generations of Israelis, who will run the country until the end of this century, will be tempted into the same kinds of compromises their elders made in the 1990s and 2000s.
This is well deserved, since his plan to allow the millenarian psychopaths of the IRGC to reach the nuclear threshold to try to “Free Palestine” risked the future of humanity. He played dice with Armageddon in the name of Third Worldism. In a century, everyone will understand that, but find it hard to believe.
Add Obama to the long list of losers of the October 7 War.
Obama went to Belfast and gave an insanely ahistorical and petty demonstration of his indestructible grudge against the Jewish state, which appears to have consumed him a la Jimmy Carter commentary.org/seth-mandel/o…
Now I know what I looked like when I was a younger man and "found" my wife getting out of shower.
This quoted post is unavailable.
Here is 40 year old man with a net worth estimated over $5M. Easily in the top 5% of net worth. 22 years of voting it's the boomers fault for the financial ruin of government unfunded obligations.
Do you think the government listened to any of us tax payers in the last 50 years? No the administrative state and the people in rich elite control the government. Yes watching you pull the strings against all of the less fortunate than Matt..
Tired of this excuse. First of all, social security is not something you “pay into.” If it were, you wouldn’t need younger people to “pay into it” in order to get your check. But you do. Because this is a Ponzi scheme, not a retirement account. What you really mean to say is that your money was stolen from you — which it was — and now you want to steal from younger people to get restitution. That’s the actual case you’re making and it’s exactly as morally deranged as it sounds.
Second, your generation continually for decades voted for politicians who would keep the scheme going. You might not have invented social security, but you damn sure made certain it kept going. Why should younger people have to pay the price for the shitty policies you supported?
Third, you “paid into” social security in a different time. The country is now bankrupted and 40 trillion dollars in debt, and basic things like housing are prohibitively expensive. It wasn’t like that when you were young, because your generation of leadership created this problem.
So the theme here is that there are a bunch of problems you guys either created or contributed to. You can choose to pay the price for that now, or force your grandchildren to pay the price so you can live comfortably until you die and leave them holding the bag. You’ve chosen the latter, and I think that’s wrong. Simple as that.

People with totalitarian visions or fanatical obsessions cannot be placated by meeting them part way. Every time you meet them partway, not only will they not stop, they're also angry and dissatisfied at the "half measure" and aware they can make you cave in by being dickheads.

This is your reminder of the great circle routes that ICBM would take to hit the center of the USA from: Iran (Red); Purple (Pakistani) [NB: these are also the routes from most of the Russian ICBM fields]; Russia (Yellow); PRC (Orange); NORK (White). Adjust actual launch sites and actual targets as needed. You can do this yourself on GoogleEarth.
Greenland is the shield for North America from most of the worst places in the world. To have it under utilized as such has always been a threat to the USA since the invention of intercontinental bombers and missiles.
This is by far an exceptional net good. Well meaning people can argue about how we got here, but we got here. No one else made it happen.

This is one of the key graphics for understanding what is happening with Greenland, and what's next.
As the Great Game among the Great Powers returns, the Arctic resources are the prize. Greenland is held by a very weak power - but so are the Svalbard islands of Norway.

18 years of compression just resolved.
$EWZ broke the 2008 wedge and the retest looks done.
Brazil is a resource exporter: iron ore, agriculture, energy. When commodities rotate, this is one of the cleanest equity expressions of that move.
The crowd is still married to U.S. indexes. This chart is the other side of that trade.
Physics > Paper.
This is the setup almost nobody is talking about.
While the crowd stays glued to overvalued developed markets, $EWZ just broke out of a massive multi-decade wedge dating back to 2008 - and is now retesting the breakout as support.
Resource-rich Latin America holds the physical commodities and energy the world actually needs.
I’m waiting for the retest to fully complete before getting more aggressive.
The next leg of the hard-asset rotation may be starting right here.

Well only fools think it is about Israel. It has always been about getting Global energy dominance in struggle against China and Russia. China already has a foot hold in Canada we did not need to let the one in Vz grow.

The cheap slaves sat in the courtyard. The expensive ones were never seen at all...
Istanbul's slave market, known as the Esir Hanı, operated for over two
centuries near the Nuruosmaniye Mosque, once the largest slave market in the entire Middle East.
Not every captive sold there was treated the same. African women, most often sold for domestic labor, sat openly in the market's courtyard on mats, visible to anyone passing through. Circassian women, taken from the Caucasus and considered the market's most valuable and desirable captives, were never displayed publicly at all. They were kept indoors, shown only privately to buyers who could afford them.
A visiting clergyman named Robert Walsh described his own confusion when he toured the market in the 1830s, having expected to witness grieving, visibly suffering captives. What he found instead was a market designed to look almost unremarkable on its surface, with its most valuable "merchandise" kept carefully out of sight.
When Sultan Abdülmecid officially closed the public market in 1847, many assumed the trade itself had ended. It hadn't. Sales simply moved entirely behind closed doors, into the private homes of traders, continuing quietly for decades with even less oversight than before.
A visitor to Istanbul in 1869, more than twenty years after the public
market's closure, still reported that slave trading continued in the
city, just out of view. The women who passed through those private rooms left behind almost no trace of their names, their prices, or what became of them after.
