Busy busy days. Haven’t been on as much. Hopefully I can catch up this evening and check here.

Burrowing owls were one of the top suggestions (I didn’t pick them because of an anti-rodent bias regardless of what @DocDeezWhat tells you. I’ll do a rodent tomorrow just for you).
The FBO is a tiny, long-legged (see picture number 2, supermodowl material)…
Honest, I didn’t know Florida had burrowing owls in the first place.
It is a thing!
Adorable lil owl here today!

Many do not understand that science news in mass media are very often wrong.
The media likes to exaggerate, to get more page views and more advertising revenue.
Also, journalists are not bright enough to check which scientific claims are backed by evidence.

True. One of the strangest things about my job is watching people demand zero risk from technologies while accepting enormous risks from doing nothing.

In all our fields …
- confirmation bias …
- prevention paradox …
- likelihood …
- facts versus discussion material …
- science does not question everything, but discusses rather open than closed questions.

I want to hear from all the scientists on X.
Chemists. Biologists. Physicists. Engineers. Doctors. Researchers.
What is one thing the public consistently misunderstands about your field?
Let's make some actual expertise visible.
I mean I am guilty.
Only some days do I make physical list, then clear them out.
Couple yeas now, everything is still stressful. I hit f it in my life.
Need to work on this tho 😁

Late-diagnosed ADHD isn’t just about getting a diagnosis.
It’s about grieving the kid who thought they were lazy, and finally understanding the adult they became.
That’s the beginning of self-compassion. XO, Dr. Jen
Maybe I caught courthouse sheriff deputies on a good slow day, cause idk if look presentable in public🤷♀️, on way to registrar of voters. Body hurt, ow, ow, ow.
Got the important thing done.
Mail-in ballot on way.
Submitted documentation.
Reviewed test ballot.
Ready.
How secure are voter sites?
Two sheriff deputies courthouse entrance, surprised went back and put phone in car.
Signs outside.
No cell phone, at least 3.
Them, ‘Wow, most people ignore sign’.
Me=😳
Idk if my affect is appropriate
Concealed carry here too.
So, um anyway, yeah.

Power of words and language. I do a lot of this in real life with adult patients. Parents / children - the dynamic can also be shaped in adulthood.
I’ve covered this in the course on Brain/ Body/ Mind / Therapeutic relationship - integrating neurobiology and psychodynamics.
We underplay the role of words and doses of words and what they provide. I use ‘doses’ as they link to specific emotional domains.
Affect labelling has a neurobiological impact.
In adults who have not heard it in childhood do not have this language.
The clinician can shape it now.
My family meetings at times go on for a few hours working on this.
It’s fascinating to identify what has been missing/ why / what was needed etc and a shared understanding of paradoxes.
A key issue in psychodynamic therapy at times is that the wider family system may not be actively shaped through family meetings.
IMO it ‘enhances the process’ ( and I don’t mean it in time only) and makes a big difference in creating a shared understanding. It’s about shaping the world they live in.
