Hear me out. You deserve a government that invests in 👉🏿 you. My name is Conrad Blackburn. I am running for Assembly in Harlem to bring the power back to the people. I’ll be outside on the corner of 125th and Lenox—every Saturday. We outside. Link 🔗 in bio to donate.
This weekend we were in Council Member Feliz's district with @DarializaforNY and @ConradforHarlem talking to neighbors about the CURB Act.
Of the people we spoke to, 91% support blocking SRG from policing protests. @OswaldFeliz, when will you bring the CURB Act to a hearing?

Yesterday, AutoZone fired me for organizing their first ever union a day after we won the election despite all their conditions against us. Now, we have a GoFundMe to help me, our union, and a strike fund.
Donate to Flood the Zone with more unions !!

Unsurprising. The U.S.'s police & prison system is another tool in the capitalist toolbox, used to control & coerce the working class and reinforce the dominance of the wealthy over America's black and brown working class. I.e. the system is designed to keep us poor, not safe.
New: a secretive DHS predictive policing unit is analyzing Americans' financial activity, feeding those names to police, then having cops pull them over. Not suspected of specific crime. We're revealing unit name: Predictive Intelligence Targeting Team 404media.co/a-secretive-dhs-…
The audacity & gall of ppl to just ignore and erase the fact that there are members of DSA who came up from the literal TRENCHES, & those numbers grow everyday. This is why I tried so hard reaching ppl in the projects. Because we have ideas about how to build a better life too!
We ready to talk 'bout how its lowkey racist that pundits also ignore that a root cause/transformative justice approach isn't just a "college campus" thing?! It's something communities of color (esp. working class & low income) understand & prefer over treating us like animals 🤦🏿♂️
Replying to @equalityAlec
There's a very weird tendency in left punditry now to categorically dismiss "defund the police" or "abolition" as "woke" and then to move on. The Prospect goes so far as to suggest that anti-repression is not even among the core tenets of the socialist left!
We stand on the shoulders of our ancestors, many of whom gave their lives, livelihood(s), & freedom for PIC abolition. And, we stand on streets, stained by the blood of BIPOC, whose lives were stolen by the US Carceral State. Abolition isn’t an idea/slogan to be tossed aside..1/2
🔥🔥🔥
Democratic socialists make an effort to talk to all Americans, even those who disagree with us.

Every day, Bronx public defenders are on the front lines, fighting for our neighbors against the mass incarceration system.
These workers deserve compensation that keeps pace with skyrocketing inflation.
I spoke with @ConradforHarlem about what the @BxDUnion is fighting for.

Extractive capitalism is destroying our planet and our communities' ability to thrive.
Establishment leaders (of all parties) have failed to address climate change, wealth disparity, and the health consequences of both.
We are here to change that.
ICE has terrorized OUR streets for too long. I stand w/ the brave electeds who are calling on Schumer & Jeffries to abolish ICE. It's truly a disgrace that NO Harlem reps have signed on. Jordan, Yusef, Cordelle - show us that you'll fight for us‼️Sign on‼️
New York City signatories of the @CMShahanaHanif , @DianaforQueens, @JuliaCarmel__ letter aimed at Senator Schumer and Congressman Jeffries.
Currently the letter is signed by 56% of City Council Democrats, 36% of Senate Democrats, and 28% of Assembly Democrats.
Thank you for your leadership and moral clarity in this @JuliaCarmel__ , @CMShahanaHanif, and @DianaforQueens. The People are with you!
This weekend's news of Kinu Rochford's passing is heartbreaking. During a basketball tournament that is meant to bring our community together, we lost a father, a leader, a talent. To build our power, we must end these cycles of violence, love, & protect each other. R.I.P Kinu🕊

Conrad Blackburn, the DSA-backed candidate for Assembly District 70, concedes the race to Assembly Member Jordan Wright.
“You all still came out to fight for a better life for your neighbors,” he says. “It is not easy to take power from capitalists.”
