I was dating a woman in 2024, and when she heard I was going to a Skillet concert, she tried her hardest to contact the right people to get Skillet to play my favorite song of theirs at the concert as a surprise to me. She wasn’t able to make it happen, but major points for the idea and effort. Sucks that that relationship didn’t work out. She was a good one.

Ken Ham: “The age of the earth is not a matter of salvation.” Also Ken Ham: *Says if you believe in millions of years you reject the authority of scripture, you lead many, many out of the faith, it’s an indirect gospel issue, you love the world more than the Bible, and you’re only saved because you’re inconsistent in how you apply it.* No wonder for the last 75 years many people have made it a litmus test for orthodoxy, and overreact when someone has a different view than Ken and the like.

Just realized Dale blocked me. Having said that, you can tell Dale wants so badly to mock and gloat and rub this in, but has just enough Christianity in him to know he can’t get away with that. So he settled for a neutered version. I know because the first part didn’t need to be said.

As a Christian you are not commanded to give 10% of your income to your local church.

I’ve been saying for years that @aigkenham needs to shut up. But he has a ministry to fund and a $100 million ark museum to sell tickets to, so he literally can’t let the age of the earth be a point of agreeing to disagree. He HAS to catastrophize believing in an old-earth. I’m old-earth, I’ve held to it for almost a decade and a half (was once an avid follower of Kent Hovind), but YECs are brethren I’m still happy to fellowship with. It’s a tertiary issue that Ken Ham and the like have scared people into thinking is of utmost importance for orthodoxy because, as I’ve said, he’s incentivized to do so.
Why is Ken Ham picking a fight with me about the age of the universe? This week, I'm responding to Ken's recent video that criticizes what I teach about creation.

Instead of yelling to repeal the 19th (because that’s not a workable, sensible, or realistic strategy, and it’s not the problem), how about Christians actually turn out and vote?

Why are horoscopes based off birthdates rather than conception dates? What are the odds that 1/12 of the world is having the same kinda day today? Why don’t twins always have the same personality if birthdate determines personality type? What force do planets measurably apply to people on earth that would affect personality? And why only the planets in our solar system? And why doesn’t distance affect it?
Scorpio season has started.

My pursuit of doing voice work is paused indefinitely for now. So enjoy one of my samples I put together. Would love to see how much better I can do one day when I pick this back up and get some actual experience in.

Single Christian men, just because you both love Jesus doesn’t mean a single Christian woman owes you a relationship, or anything else for that matter. Be interesting, don’t be a douchebag, look presentable, have ambition, get fit, discipline your flesh. Those things matter too.

Pray to Jesus to ask Mary to pray to God for me. I reject that because it’s unnecessarily complicated and without biblical precedent.
Would a Protestant reject this prayer? “Dear Jesus, please ask Mary to pray for me.” Genuinely curious…

This is such a satanic panic boomer take.
How should Christians approach Halloween? Christians tend to fall into four different camps when it comes to participating in Halloween: - Total abstinence - Full participation - Partial participation - Redemptive participation Some abstain from Halloween altogether. Others fully participate in the festivities, while some enjoy the family fun without participating in the glorification of evil. I believe the better alternative is redemptive participation. My mom has set this example for me for years. She uses Halloween as an opportunity to share the gospel by attaching Bible verses to candy, making Scripture signs for her front lawn, and sharing the love of Jesus with the families who come to her door. As she says, “What other time of year do you have people coming to your home and asking you for something? This is like the easiest evangelism opportunity possible.” A night associated with darkness can actually be an opportunity to shine the light of Christ.

People are coming at me angry for a review I did on one of @HwsEleutheroi’s book. Please don’t forget that there is Calvinist literature I have praised. For example👇🏻
My review of “Still Sovereign” from 3 years ago. A pro-Calvinism book I actually liked: “As far as Calvinist literature goes, this was one I liked the most. In my opinion it was solid, irenic, and well done. I like the style of different authors contributing their own chapter in a collection like this. I was never bored, it was engaging, and one of the most well documented books I’ve read, making it useful for further study in the future. While I’ll say most of the points in the book were well argued, I think some weren’t as good as others. Ortlund’s chapter on sovereignty didn’t really hit the points of contention well, so he didn’t argue anything most other non-Calvinists wouldn’t largely agree with. And Sam Storms’s chapter on sovereignty in relation to prayer was, I think, the weakest, because he seemed to want to argue for other points in the larger debate (and using mostly packaged arguments) but then tie them back to prayer as an afterthought because that’s the subject he was supposed to tackle. But he did give a practical Calvinist model of prayer and sovereignty, so it wasn’t a bad chapter by any means. Even these weaker chapters, however, were still better argued than a good chunk of other literature from those who hold their views, so that’s to the praise of this book. And I thought the chapters by Yarbrough, Piper, Ware, and Clowney were pretty good. So as far as Calvinist literature recommendations, I’d say Piper’s Five Points for beginners in the discussion, Why I Am Not An Arminian for the intermediate, and this book for those seasoned in the discussion. I’m sure there’s another category above that, which we could call elite or academic, but I don’t feel qualified enough to speak to that.”

Political activist with the façade of Christianity votes exactly how everyone knew he would vote, but didn’t waste the opportunity to boast about how moral his vote was while telling you without telling you how to should vote; the thing Progressives hate Evangelicals for doing.
I am a husband, father, and lifelong Texan. I’ve been a Christian since I was 5 and a pastor since I was 19. And I just proudly voted for James Talarico, Gina Hinojosa, Jon Rosenthal, and Vikki Goodwin. While it’s true that Ken Paxton is as corrupt and morally bankrupt as they come, Greg Abbott has decimated our public schools, Dan Patrick is bought and paid for by right-wing billionaires, and Bo French wears his racism on his sleeve, I didn’t just vote AGAINST candidates I know will do a bad job. I had the privilege of voting FOR candidates who will do a great job! I originally connected with Jimmy Talarico many years ago (long before he got famous) and we became friends shortly after. He’s the exact same guy in private as he is in public—kindhearted, whip smart, hardworking, and very serious about following Jesus’ call to care for all people, especially the most vulnerable. That’s who he’s been in ministry, in the Texas Legislature, and I have no doubt that’s who he’ll be as a United States Senator too. I’ve also gotten to speak with Gina Hinojosa, Jon Rosenthal, and Vikki Goodwin this year. I believe they will fight for two things that are very important to my family and so many people in our church community: 1. An economy where every Texan can afford to have their basic needs met. 2. Fully funded public schools where all children can thrive. I’m not telling you who to vote for; I’m just telling you who I chose to vote for and why. We are in a critical moment in both the United States and Texas, so I hope you vote. And if you are a follower of Jesus, I hope you see your vote as a way to prioritize the way of Jesus—sacrificial love of neighbor and justice for those who have been marginalized.

This is what piety-signaling looks like. This is the theological version of owning your white privilege. But sure, why not appropriate Psalm 22’s portrayal of Jesus on the cross, and Paul’s title he gave to himself specifically to lead into extolling the depths of Christ’s forgiveness to make it about you?
