15 Years. Another summer of bringing the engagement of high school hoops together with the fight against ALS. Multiple states, hundreds of high schools, thousands of student athletes over the past decade and a half. So thankful to all that make this event what it is. #FightALS

So sorry to hear this. I always enjoyed a pregame talk with Ken before our games in Bellingham. So much passion and dedication for covering sports in our area...RIP

High school sports lost a legendary storyteller with the passing of Ken Hamwey. For nearly six decades, Ken dedicated his life to highlighting the achievements of local student-athletes, beginning with his very first varsity football story in Millis back in 1967.

On Dec. 1, Brian Ferris suffered a life-altering spinal cord injury that left him with minimal movement of his arms and legs. “I could have died on that floor that night,” Ferris said. Less than six months later, Ferris can walk without assistance. His life will never be the same, but his relentless work ethic has allowed him to make significant strides. Next up for the longtime referee, coach and teacher? A return to the field, court and classroom. “I’m going to get back on that field,” Ferris said. “I don’t know if it’s going to take six months. I don’t know if it’s going to take a year or two years. I’m going to fight the fight every day until I get back out there.” bostonglobe.com/2026/05/09/s… @GlobeSchools @BR_Athletics_MA @BRgirlshoops @BRRSD_ @bsubears @Bsumbb @MIAA033 @WalpolehighADSM
