I am deeply saddened to learn of Walter Koenig’s passing.
Although we did not know each other well away from the set, we shared the later seasons of the original Star Trek series and the six films that followed.
What I observed, and what so many fans have expressed over the years, was a man who genuinely loved the Star Trek community.
At conventions, Walter was rarely content to remain behind a signing table. He preferred to be among the people who had kept Star Trek alive for so many decades.
That kind of genuine connection is rare, and it will be remembered by everyone who came into contact with him.
My condolences to his family, his friends, and the countless fans whose lives he touched.

Desire and lust aren’t the same. One moves toward self-giving; the other toward possession. The difference is whether desire seeks to give—or to take. #Faith #Relationships

The biggest threat to Christianity isn't atheism. It's fake Christianity.
A gospel with no repentance.
A faith with no obedience.
A church with no truth.
OH HELL NO.
In fact, we need to change the law so that every office needs to be held by American-born citizens only.
No foreigners.
Too much corrupt strategery taking place. This leftist madness we are subjected to has been going on for generations. Do not give them another target.

THIS is a good response.
Denver Archbishop James Golka this week defended his participation in a prayer event with U.S. President Donald Trump at the Oval Office, citing the gathering as an opportunity to publicly pray and evangelize the faith.
Golka, who was installed in the Denver Archdiocese in March after serving as the bishop of Colorado Springs for several years, led a prayer during an Oct. 22 meeting at the Oval Office between Trump and several U.S. bishops.
During the gathering the archbishop in part prayed for the Holy Spirit to “surround our country, to protect us against any influence of evil.”
The prayer event generated some backlash for what critics have argued was a politically motivated photo opportunity on the part of the White House. Golka this week said he “knew people might be upset” at the event and that it could be "use[d] for political purposes.”
“But as I prayed about it, I thought that this is what Catholics do. We pray for people. No matter whether we agree or disagree on anything, we always pray for our country and leaders,” he said in remarks to the Denver Catholic.
Golka said during the meeting he articulated Church teachings to the president. “As Catholics, we’re called to share our faith in season and out of season and to witness to the dignity of every human person,” he told the Denver Catholic.
He denied that the event, including video of the prayer shared on social media, constituted an “endorsement” of the president. “That was never my intention,” he said.
“The bishops of the United States teach that the Church cannot champion any candidate or party,” he said. “I hold to that. However you vote, you ultimately belong to Jesus who loves you infinitely more than you can imagine.”
The archbishop said he has received criticism from friends about the decision and that he has responded by telling them: “I was being a Catholic priest.”
He described himself as “heartbroken” at the anger over the event. He urged Christians to “look beyond the headlines, which are often crafted to provoke, towards the full truth.”
“I will keep praying for our president, our governor and everyone who serves in public office, regardless of their party or position on divisive topics,” he said.
The Archdiocese of Denver said after the event that praying for public leaders “is a long Catholic practice” that dates back to Apostolic Age.

Friends, in just two days, Christians were murdered on two continents.
On Friday, gunmen opened fire on a funeral at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church in Karak, Jordan, and killed nine people. On Saturday, armed men attacked Orthodox churches and homes in Oromia, Ethiopia, and killed more than forty.
These are not statistics. They are our brothers and sisters, members of the mystical Body of Christ. When Saul set out to destroy the Church, the risen Jesus asked him, “Why are you persecuting me?” The Lord is still being persecuted in these victims of anti-Christian violence.
Christianity is by far the most persecuted religion in the world today. Those of us who worship in comfort have to ask what the deaths of these martyrs demand of us. At the very least, they demand that we pray for them, learn their names, press our leaders to act, and refuse to look away.
The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church.
There needs to be a law that text messages for election season only come from one phone number for each party. I am so sick of text messages. I didn't ask for these. I vote one way. I've always pretty much voted one way. And I have a very strong identity that one party is vehemently against. Text messages aren't changing my mind. And I've always voted in general elections.
There needs to be something that allows us to opt out out of all political messaging.
They want to do this in the US.
This is institutionalized insanity.
And you know it's only going to apply to the native white population of the UK.
You're never going to see the migrants from the third world held to this standard.
It's like the UK government has turned the nation into a prison for their own people, and their people are not allowed to defend themselves or have an opinion about the way they're being treated or they'll be punished even more.
And if the Left regains power in the US, I don't see any way we can avoid eventually having this here. They treat the 1st Amendment like toilet paper when they're in control.
This.

My goodness, sack up. A Catholic prelate should never feel the need to apologize for praying for/with a civil leader. The fact that he was pressured to do so speaks more to the actual evils confronting the church—ones which weaponize Catholic empathy for their own political aims
Today's concluding prayer makes for a wonderful daily offering:
Almighty Father,
you have brought us to the light of a new day:
keep us safe the whole day through
from every sinful inclination.
May all our thoughts, words and actions
aim at doing what is pleasing in your sight.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.
— Amen.
We must remember how near he is and that no thought of ours, no conversation we hold is hidden from him. It is right, therefore, that we should not turn our backs and flee from God’s will. We should rather give offense to stupid and foolish men, puffed up and taking pride in their boastful speech, than give offense to God.
Let us reverence the Lord Jesus, whose blood was shed for us. Let us respect those in authority, let us honor the presbyters. Let us train the young in the fear of God. Let us lead our wives toward all that is good. Let them show by their conduct that they are lovers of chastity; by their gentleness let them reveal a pure and sincere disposition; by their silence let them manifest the control they have over their tongues; let them bestow an equal charity, without respect for persons, on all who have a holy fear of God....
All this is strengthened by the faith that comes to us in Christ. He himself addresses us through the Holy Spirit and says: Come, my children, listen to me: I will teach you the fear of the Lord. Is there a man who wants life, desiring to see good days? Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking what is false. Turn away from evil and do good. Seek peace and go in pursuit of it.
