Is that using the Mercury orbit of 88 days or the Venus orbit of 224?
Prime Minister Andy Burnham has ruled out calling a general election in the next 12 months, as he says his focus is on wanting to help people, not his own party and its prospects.

I know this is a small point but you are really not supposed to selectively tell certain people about the contents of your Budget. We used to tell HMT officials they could go to jail for this.
CONFIRMED. Gas Standing Charges to be scrapped. I've just come out of a meeting with the Chancellor. The gas standing charge will be scrapped in 2027 (my guess, either for 1 Oct price cap or the 1 Jan 28 price cap). Having campaigned against the moral hazard of standing charges for years, I'm pleased.
It's currently £108 a year. That cost will be shifted onto unit rates. We don't know how much yet, but I suspect just under 1p per kwH.
The Chancellor also said he will be talking to Ofgem about how they get rid of the charge on electricity as well, but that is 'trickier' apparently and will take longer.
This is primarily about the price cap standing charges. There will still be an open market, so other firms can offer other forms of prices with or without the standing charge. My suspicion is that once it goes on the price cap, it will tend to be reduced on other tariffs as well.
As for those on fixes: if you get a fix now, the rate of your fix is fixed, so this should not affect it. You will pay what you pay and if it has standing charges they will continue (some asking if they should delay fixing because of this, no if a fix is right for you and will save you money, don't let this change that - this is about the structure of bills, as opposed to the actual costs on bills).
About 60% of people will pay less due to this, 40% more. My guesstimate is the dividing line will be somewhere around 12,500 kilowatt hours of gas (can't know until there is actual pricing). According to a study by Nesta, this switch would leave the majority of people in all income groups under £100,000 better off.
Of course, when this does come in, if we're still in the nightmare that we are right now, there will need to be support put in for vulnerable higher users, who will have to pay more. Though hopefully by then the mid-east will have calmed and energy prices lower.
---------------
That's all long term. The biggest issue in energy right now is that we're expecting a 27% rise in the price cap in January. I asked the Chancellor whether he will be intervening on that. He told me I'd have to wait for the budget, but reading between the lines, yes, there will be an announcement today.
Whether it's an increase in the Warm Home Discount, or whether it's council tax banned, or whether it's done via a payout for people in say council tax bands A-D as a proxy for household income as Rishi Sunak did who knows.
Have this running on your computer while you listen to the Chancellor's budget.

It was a gamble, not too dissimilar to those (successfully) made in Eastern Europe in the 90s. Rush for growth and balance the books as you go.
The problem was with the modern UK, with all its massive state debt, 10DS forgot the markets also now had a vote.

Planning reform is dead.
Remember when the OBR decided NOT to score negatively the Employment Rights Bill (which actually happened and costs billions) but DID score positively the planning reform that never happened?
It is funny when the OBR are helpful and when they're not.
Well, actually Burnham is wrong because the Vote Leave line defined Brexit as being out of the Customs Union, out of the Single Market, a comprehensive free trade deal with the EU and free trade deals around the world.
So much for the Chancellor's 'top secret' budget. What will the Speaker say? With Healey's "compartmentalisation", that should supposedly make the investigation easier... Who is going to be fired over the leaks?
1. Why has he got corporate sponsorship from HP Sauce? 2. Why does the document title sound like he's been stuffed in a car boot by Sendero Luminoso?
You're doing what now?
🇬🇧🇪🇺 We are reversing Brexit.
The UK and EU are working on British access to “Made in Europe”.
A special agreement is expected to be discussed at the November summit.
An interim deal could pave the way for future UK membership of the European Union.
UK–EU relations are closer than at any point since Brexit
With the prospect of reversing its economic and political consequences now within reach.

It all ends so depressingly for all of them.
I'd rather have the Carausius prequel and the Lactantius spin off.
No. EEA/Rejoin (details as well-defined as a Turner painting) vs reopening the NI Protocol.
A big part of the reason (this, from the horse's mouth) is that civil servants are afraid of looking partisan over faith groups. Utter foolishness.
This keeps on happening. It's a shame that, aside from Orban's Hungary and sometimes France, no western country shows much interest in the persecution of Christians across the wider Middle East. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cm4g…

Burnham, in 2019, complaining about free movement, having been in favour of the EU, and subsequently against it in Makerfield, and now back in favour. He's a charlatan. A Prime Minister who has lied his way to power in Britain is quickly found out. You'd be mad to vote for this.

To think that the Prime Minister used to be so strongly against free movement of people in the EU as it was bad for his constituents. Is Leigh that far from Makerfield? (No, part of Leigh went into Makerfield in the last boundary changes).
