Imagine if the BBC charged @michaelgove the full cost for fixing their broken lift, even though he doesn't own it, he was just using it for a short time. (1/5)

📣 MARCH TO THE QUAYS 📣
We are excited to announce that @RLong_Bailey will be joining us for #MarchToTheQuays on Saturday.
We will be walking past various affected buildings & calling on Gov’t to find a swift & fair solution to the #BuildingSafetyCrisis
Who is joining us? – at Manchester, England

Ironically, the billionaire freeholder that is demanding thousands of pounds off us so we can't buy a house, is on the board of @StMungos, the homelessness charity. As someone who has been homeless herself, and managed to get on the property ladder, feels like a slap in the face.

The wheels are coming off the government’s repeated attempt to “PR” its way out of this. The issues are real. The bills are starting to become real. Flats will not sell on the back of those bills. Reality will not match the government’s rhetoric. #NotJustCladding #WeAreTrapped

@TheSundayTimes reports misleading and inaccurate info on the progress to remediate unsafe buildings. Our priority is making sure residents are safe by removing dangerous cladding from the highest risk buildings as quickly as possible. Our response:

“Imagine being told when you’ve just had a new-born baby that you face financial ruin. Then imagine 3½ years passing, thinking the saga was finally coming to an end, having another baby and then to be told you face financial ruin again.”

Who’d be paying for the removal if the unsafe cladding was where Boris Johnson lived?

To quote Baroness @KathPinnock, the Cladding Scandal comes down, fundamentally, to a simple question of justice.
We will keep fighting until we get it.

4/6 The real issue here is who pays. The government is busily trying to change the law to remove any doubt that leaseholders should pay.
The #FireSafetyBill is a step along the road to doing that.
This is moral cowardice.
This is a failure of leadership.

If our Prime Minister can't afford to spend £58k renovating his flat on a salary of £150k+/year, why do @mhclg @ChrisPincher @team_greenhalgh think ordinary citizens with incomes less than a third of this can afford £58k to fix their landlords' buildings..? #EndOurCladdingScandal

1/7 A Tale of Two Scandals. Today the government has announced it will change the law to refund investors who lost money in the London & Capital Finance mini bond scheme. Why? Because the government accepts the FCA failed to regulate the firm properly. #EndOurCladdingScandal

Over half a million £s in VAT being charged to #leaseholders to fix a building that they don't own & didn't build 🤯
It's unbelievable how unfair and unjust the #BuildingSafetyCrisis is
When will @mhclg finally #EndOurCladdingScandal?
It's been promised time & time again...

12/ On cladding levy, Lord Greenhalgh says we can’t bankrupt developers. Praised recent contributions from developers. The total amount pledged by developers to date is c. £500 million. Costs estimated at £15 billion. The same developers will receive £30 billion from Help To Buy

Nearly 4 yrs after Grenfell, @TaylorWimpeyplc set aside a mere £125 mil for 232 blocks to fix defects THEY created. That's only £500k per block (avg cost is over £2 million).
Dividends paid : £151 million.
Instead of shaming them & imposing levies, @RobertJenrick
praises them!
Today’s decision by @TaylorWimpeyplc to provide £125m for the remediation of building safety issues on properties they have built is very welcome.
Those developers that have not done so already now need to step up and help protect leaseholders from these costs.

A vote against McPartland Smith amendment tomorrow is a vote to force victims, not polluters, to pay for the crime. A vote for bankruptcy, homelessness, and eventual collapse of the housing market. Do the right thing @Conservatives @ToryHomes and help us #EndOurCladdingScandal
