Congratulations @KevinOFarrell_!
Dr. Kevin O’Farrell joins Polk State College as Executive Vice President of Workforce & Strategic Initiatives polk.edu/news/dr-kevin-ofarr…
Incredibly exciting and congratulations my friend! Polk State College will have a proven and brave leader committed to the pursuit of lifelong learning and Florida’s #1 workforce!
I am thankful to the search committee for naming me the sole finalist to become Polk State College’s next president.
Florida College System institutions play a critical role in preparing students for in-demand, high-wage positions. During my time as Commissioner, I have proudly touted their incredible outcomes as they serve more than 680,000 students across the state and provide more than 130,000 degrees and certifications each year. It is an honor to be blessed with this opportunity, and I am excited to contribute to that work in a new capacity while continuing to support strong partnerships between K-12 schools, colleges, and universities.
I also look forward to working with the Board of Trustees, cabinet members, and the faculty whose dedication is transforming students’ lives and equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in their careers.
No matter the position I serve in, I remain committed to the belief that education is the foundation of opportunity and the key to a stronger future.
.@GovRonDeSantis said it best in his State of the State address: “Results are what matter the most.” Florida continues to deliver results, setting the pace for the rest of the nation as a model for economic expansion, talent attraction and workforce development.

Welcome back to the Free State of Florida!
It’s been an honor to serve under the leadership of Governor Patrick Morrisey — a man of integrity and conviction who cares deeply about his staff and the future of West Virginia. Great things lie ahead for the Mountain State!
While I am sad to leave, I look forward to this incredible opportunity to rejoin the DeSantis Administration in my home state of Florida.

Welcome to the sunshine state where insurance rates are regulated and fair and freedom is on the march.
This is false. Perhaps the State of Illinois should first focus on the basic fact that State Farm Florida is its own company and no subsidization from the company in question is taking place.
We agree that Florida is a more desirable location to live in and many Illinoisans are relocating here, which has been further demonstrated through several carriers, including State Farm, filing rate reductions here in Florida.
Florida is happy to give Illinois some pointers on how to build an affordable and sustainable insurance market.
For Illinoisans looking to relocate to Florida, 14 additional insurance companies have entered our market since 2023 and our state’s building code is one of the nation’s best. 🐊🍊

Americans have given President Trump a mandate to secure the southern border and end the illegal immigration crisis. Florida must step up to help carry out this mission.
Here are some of the proposals I am calling on the Legislature to pass in the upcoming Special Session:
Lottery Secretary John Davis is right to point out that illegal immigration issues have far reaching negative consequences, even for the Lottery’s mission.
The special session showdown is now a multi-front war, with @GovRonDeSantis clearly on offense. The latest turn, members of his admin pushing to make immigration the theme of committee meetings.
Here’s one example from State Admin. Lawmakers were talking lotto… but…

Florida is the only state in the nation that has a university consortium affiliated with one of NASA’s centers. The Florida University Space Research Consortium will facilitate NASA research grants at our state universities, attract new investments in aerospace, and maintain Florida’s position as the national leader in the fast-growing space economy.
This first-of-its-kind collaboration between NASA’s Kennedy Space Center and our state universities, alongside strategic investments from @SpaceFlorida and private sector partners, will ensure that Florida remains unmatched in space-related research and workforce development.
