המטסים שביצע חיל האוויר הישראלי בשמי סוריה ועיראק והיגיעו עד לגבול איראן- עליהם דווח בשבוע שעבר, הובילו לאיומים נגד ישראל מצד משמרות המהפכה של איראן שהועברו לאחרונה לגורמים באזור- כך דיווחנו הערב. גורם אזורי אמר לנו שמדובר "הרפתקנות יתר מצד ישראל כלפי איראן" - שמצטרפים לאיומים שנשמעו בימים אחרונים מצד ראש הממשלה ושר הביטחון. המטסים הללו של חיל האוויר התרחשו ימים ספורים לפני הבחירות בישראל, מצד ממשלה שהמנדט הנוכחי שלה יסתיים מחר. הגורמים אמרו שהעיתוי של המטסים מעלים לא מעט שאלות. תגובה איראנית על המטסים הישראלים שדווחו או מטס שהסתבך למשל אם מטוס קרב ישראלי היה נפגע, היו עלולים להוביל לחידוש המערכה באיראן ואף לאפשרות לביטול הבחירות. עמדת צה"ל כפי שהוצגה לראש הממשלה שאין דחיפות לתקוף באיראן לפני הבחירות.

I was at the Kotel yesterday with a friend who came in from abroad to vote. The plaza was pretty empty, and I could hear the popular song "Am Yisrael Chai" - the People of Israel Live - playing in the far corner.
