Jason Leitch, you claim to have spent your career improving healthcare. Show us the evidence of what you actually did at NHS Tayside while Sam Eljamel was harming patients.
You were employed by NHS Tayside from 2012, and your time there overlapped with the period when serious concerns about Eljamel’s practice and patient safety were emerging. Your close association with former CEO Gerry Marr raises legitimate questions about what you knew, what you were told, and what action you took.
Did you raise concerns about Eljamel? Did you challenge the leadership over supervision and oversight? Were you involved in any discussions or decisions about the concerns surrounding his practice? If you took action to protect patients, where is the evidence?
We want more than general assurances or claims about a career spent improving healthcare. Publish the relevant correspondence, meeting records and documented actions that demonstrate what you knew, what you challenged, and what you did.
If you played a role in improving patient safety at NHS Tayside, show us the evidence. If you did not, explain why.
Eljamel’s patients are living with devastating, lifelong consequences. They deserve transparency, answers and accountability from everyone whose role may have been relevant.
Eljamel’s victims deserve documented answers, not another statement about your career achievements. Accountability requires evidence.
Jason Leitch, what is your evidence?

🔥🔥Just weeks before #Eljamel’s final surgery at @NHSTayside on 9 Dec 2013, Jason Leitch attended ex-CEO Gerry Marr’s leaving do, posting photos and warm farewells.
Backslapping all round, seemingly without a care in the world….while patients were being butchered.

Jenny Gilruth, former Modern Studies teacher, on Scotland’s falling PISA scores: the problem isn’t our results, it’s the test. Let’s hope the OECD changes it.
So, the Deputy FM’s answer to Scotland trailing England in PISA: wait for the OECD to stop measuring what Scottish pupils can’t do. 🙄🤦♂️
Her union counterpart Andrea Bradley, head of the EIS, another captured institution, claims that PISA rewards “memorisation and rote learning.” She couldn't be more wrong if she tried.
PISA is built to do the opposite. The OECD designed it to test whether 15-year-olds can apply what they know to unfamiliar, real-world problems, and it deliberately avoids testing any particular national syllabus. If any international test should suit a skills-and-capacities curriculum like CfE, it’s PISA. So “cheap learning rather than deep learning” doesn’t really work as an explanation for England’s results. The more plausible reading is the one Gilruth half-concedes: you need a solid base of knowledge before you can apply it, which the CfE doesn't produce.
There’s also a consistency problem. Scotland performed well in the early PISA rounds (pre-SNP/CfE), and nobody in Scottish education called the OECD a marketing operation then. The test hasn’t changed its purpose. Scotland’s results did.
English pupils did better in Pisa due to 'shallow' rote learning, says SNP's Jenny Gilruth

SNP couldn’t fill up a hall despite insisting they're booming and independence is imminent. For three days, the conference centre felt like an airport at 3am, while loyal attendees were asked to suspend disbelief and slip into an indy dreamworld. Column⬇️ thescottishsun.co.uk/news/16…

Gilruth’s outburst is typical of her undiplomatic, bullying style. McGill’s is a private company, so how is the SNP Gov going to fund a new fleet of buses with an empty public purse? 🤷♂️
Just another back-of-a-fag-packet policy to placate the party faithful at their conference. 🥱
Scotland's Deputy First Minister has pledged to work with bus companies to bring buses back under public control after McGill’s, the UK’s largest independent bus operator, accused First Minister John Swinney of behaving like a dictator
Jenny Gilruth also said it would be 'remiss' of her 'not to mention' that the McGill’s brothers were Labour donors

#Indyref2? Not a chance in the foreseeable future:-
A second referendum requires the agreement of the UK government. The UK Supreme Court confirmed in 2022 that the Scottish Parliament cannot legislate for one unilaterally. Successive UK governments have refused to grant that consent, and the present government has continued to describe another referendum as off the table while other priorities take precedence.
Public opinion has not produced a clear, sustained majority either for independence or for holding another vote in the near future. Yes/No polls remain close, Remain/Leave polls destroy that closeness and independence ranks well below the economy, health and other day-to-day issues for most voters. Without a decisive shift in opinion that made continued refusal politically costly, UK governments have little incentive to agree to a referendum.
The official GERS figures, which attribute public spending and revenue to Scotland under the current system, show a larger notional deficit than the UK average in most years. That fiscal starting point is a known feature of the debate and forms part of the political environment in which any decision on consent would be taken.
Taken together, the legal requirement for UK consent, the absence of a sustained majority in the polls, and the lack of political incentive for the UK government to grant one make a second referendum improbable in the foreseeable future. These are structural constraints rather than temporary obstacles.

BREAKING NEWS
Andy Burnham announces "Sprout Watch".
Today the Prime Minister issued a statement....
"I know many families are finding the cost of living a challenge at the moment. I get it. With Christmas approaching I want to help. I REFUSE TO BELIEVE nothing can be done. So today, in conjunction with Google Earth, I'm announcing 'Sprout Watch'. It's an interactive tool which enables anyone to zoom in to any location, far or wide, in order to track the price of sprouts and make fully informed choices before making a purchase. Whether you buy your sprouts from a discount supermarket in Doncaster or an artisan farm shop owned by someone called Tarquin in Surrey, we have your back and will continue to find ways to patronise you in the future".

Want your grandparents to stay warm this winter? What we really need is an app to tell us which coffee shop or McDonald’s have heating.
Hoping @andyburnham will come through with this app idea for pensioners who can’t afford heating this Christmas 🙏🏼

Flight cancelled. Stranded in Calgary. Airline chaos.Unfortunately for the Scottish drugs establishment, this has given me time to think. And worse, to write. 😂 Apologies in advance for the word count. This one asks a fairly awkward question: after decades of searching for the mysterious “Scottish effect”, why does nobody seem terribly interested in investigating the treatment system itself?
And when did expecting people to recover become a moral problem?
Enjoy ....
