Dr. Sujan Shresta and colleagues at @LJIresearch and @UCSDMedSchool have found that #ZikaVirus forces dendritic cells to stop acting as immune cells and instead makes them churn out lipid molecules, which the virus uses to build copies of itself. 🖨️

In today's NYTimes article on #poliovirus in NY, an expert is quoted as saying vaccinated people are protected against the virus. This is WRONG. They are not protected against infection. They are protected from getting paralysis. Vaccinated people may still get infected.

With great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Matthew Mescher. Matt retired in 2015 but continued to be a valued member of CFI. He will be sorely missed & fondly remembered for his leadership & contributions to science. Our thoughts are with his family at this time.

Excited to share our 3-in-1 viral platform to capture receptor-ligand interaction and connect such communication with molecular phenotype at the single-cell level🥳
It's fulfilling to see "crazy" ideas end up to be a great platform as they often fail🤣
