Today is the anniversary of the glorious death of Hetman Stanisław Żółkiewski in the Battle of Cecora 1620. On His grave it is written ''Let the avenger grow out of my bones''. 63 years later His great-grandson, Jan III Sobieski destroyed the Ottomans in the Battle of Vienna.⚔️🇵🇱
Just published in Chem Circularity — preview "Rethinking equilibrium barriers in organic synthesis through renewable catalytic process engineering" by Sergio Santos Moreno, Pablo Ortiz, featuring our recent work in Nature Sustainability.

I was pleased to read the insightful News & Views by Peter McNeice and Andreas J. Vorholt, “Uniting forces for green carbon chemicals,” published in Nature Sustainability 2026, 9, 1295–1296.

"Witold Pilecki repeatedly warned the world about the Holocaust at a time when millions of future German victims were still alive and could have been saved. The world chose to ignore it," said Jack Fairweather, author of "The Volunteer", translated into 26 languages.
Captain Pilecki deliberately allowed himself to be arrested by German police on 19 September 1940. He was the only man to voluntarily enter the German camp at Auschwitz, where he gathered intelligence, organised resistance, and reported on the atrocities taking place there. His bravery defies description.
In April 1943, Pilecki escaped from Auschwitz and rejoined the Home Army (AK).
Five years later, he was captured by the communists, tortured, falsely accused of espionage, and murdered [*]
Today we celebrate the 35th birthday of the Linux operating system. 🐧
And this is my desktop from 1996–1998 on some ancient PC. Since then, I have been using Linux as my only operating system.
Happy Birthday, Penguin! 🐧 Here’s to many more years! #linux @linuxfoundation
Just returned from the 31st International Conference on Organometallic Chemistry (ICOMC 2026), held from 2–7 August 2026 in the beautiful setting of Búzios, Brazil.
It was a truly inspiring and meticulously organised event. My sincere thanks go to Prof. Eduardo dos Santos, the entire organizing committee, and especially the dedicated support team for making it such a remarkable success. ♥

Piegzik do bibliotek!
The latest book by a Polish historian @Piegziu about the Battle of the Coral Sea is now available in public libraries (which are very popular in Poland). What a pleasure to read!
Also available in English: Michal A. Piegzik "Gamble in the Coral Sea: Japan's Offensive, the Carrier Battle, and the Road to Midway", Naval Institute Press, 2025.

Today, we pay tribute to Krystyna Skarbek, a woman of extraordinary courage and determination who played a pivotal role during WWII as a Polish patriot and a British SOE agent serving in Winston Churchill’s intelligence operations. Her invaluable contributions to the Allied war effort remain unforgettable.
Tragically, she was murdered on 15 June 1952 in London.
Excited to share our new paper: "Forcing self-metathesis reaction beyond thermodynamic equilibrium for green chemicals" — open access at rdcu.be/fmIen
Congratulations to all the authors!

Poland and Lithuania celebrate the 3rd of May 1791 Constitution, the most advanced document of state law at the time.
Even though the Commonwealth was defeated and partitioned by imperial powers, the principles of equality of th Constitution are still valid today.

We believe that the beauty of olefin metathesis lies in its remarkable flexibility and versatility.
In 2018 we explored the chain clipping/ring contraction with unprotected dienes. To probe the above strategy, we chose to start with precursors of macrocyclic musks. To shift alkenes, we opted to use Grotjahn’s “alkene zipper” catalyst (Ru(Cp), a purchasable complex that has been shown to promote a that has been shown to promote E-selective isomerization.

We are very excited to present our recent work, which just appeared in @ScienceMagazine (Ahead of Print) on a deconstructive synthesis strategy for efficient, programmable and stereocontrolled preparation of precisely modified macrocyclic skeletal analogs.
