i wish people understood that people with no support system operate completely differently than the average person

Thread: For those who stopped following the viruses and returned to their normal lives like nothing is happening, I want you to stop and see this thread and realize how bad things are right now.

It's now NOVEMBER.
Our clinic has NOT received the updated COVID-19 vaccines from Toronto Public Health despite multiple tries.
32 patients have been turned away so far - ALL HIGH RISK
At least we finally got our flu shots in.

Nobody fails to understand that integration =/= inclusion more than abled (mostly in the yt, privileged category) parents of Disabled kids.
Unfortunately, they are also the parents given a voice/room at the table.
They do so much harm to Disabled kids with their 'advocacy'.
During group work, a student can be welcomed into the group while classmates make every decision and do all the talking. From across the room, it can look like inclusion is working.
But look a little closer. Are they being asked for their ideas? Do they have a meaningful role? Are they getting the support they need to participate?
A student shouldn't have to be grateful just to be included. They deserve to be taken seriously as a classmate.

One of those *holy shit* studies.
Covid infection doubling the risk of pulmonary fibrosis.
Like it increases the risk of *so many health problems*.
Pulmonary fibrosis go up after COVID, including in people who were never hospitalized. A study followed more than 61,000 infected patients for up to 4.5 years and found roughly double the risk.
In hospitalized, this may simply be the scarring any severe pneumonia can leave. In non hospitalized, that explanation doesn’t hold. 🧵

As I come closer to the end of my life, a bitter pill to swallow is that so many of the constructs and "universal truths" I was raised to believe in and rely upon were lies.
Commitment to the Greater Good.
Family.
Community.
Government
I could go on but my point is that I was (maybe you were, too) conditioned to trust in societal "norms" and "goods" that were not real in the main. Of course, there are exceptions. Life is nuanced. /1

Oh, hold up. Did you know the origin of the word *spinster* refers to a female who was so skilled at weaving that she was able to achieve financial independence all on her own??
I feel like this changes the entire plot. 😳

How many times are disabled Canadians supposed to be completely ignored in the budget while living in a state of literally unsurvivable poverty which is killing people & driving them to get MAiD before we stop getting treated as hysterical for calling it social murder & eugenics?

OK THE GOVT HAS TO BE RAGEBAITING AT THIS POINT BECAUSE WHAT DO YOU MEAN, AS THE EMBLEM OF "PROTECTING CANADA'S NATURAL BEAUTY" IN YOUR BUDGET, YOU PUT A PICTURE OF THE SPECIES YOU'RE DRIVING TO EXTINCTION WITH YOUR RAMMED-THROUGH PIPELINE+PORT EXPANSION COMBO
I'm gonna PUKE!!!!
Things i’m sick of hearing: Autism edition
- everyones a little autistic
- everyone is on the autism spectrum
- anyone can be autistic now
- autism is being overdiagnosed
I’m begging people to do some actual research, read the criteria and learn that none of this is true.

Being “high functioning” is such a strange experience. It’s basically being disabled while everyone around you assumes you’re fine because you’ve managed to keep things together.
Your struggles become invisible, your needs get dismissed, and people start acting like you have no reason to complain. The moment you admit you’re having a difficult time, you’re made to feel like you’re exaggerating because you supposedly have it better than people with more visible or severe difficulties.

There is more infection control in a tattoo parlor than most healthcare settings. At the tattoo parlor, you watch an area be prepped and sanitized before your artist begins. At the doctor, you sit on a table where someone set old dressing from a MRSA wound 10 minutes ago.
Today's post is even more disappointing 😢
A maskless healthcare worker beside 4 vulnerable people, with a caption about protecting others. Why not show N95s? You can't protect patients from airborne viruses without proper respiratory protection
Every action you take to prevent #influenza and #COVID19 can help protect not only yourself, but also your patients, colleagues, loved ones, and community.
As a health worker, your choices can make a difference far beyond yourself.
Take action to protect against influenza and COVID-19 and help protect those who count on you.

More freedumb proposed for Alberta🤦🏼♀️
The UCP government is proposing a new law that would restrict Alberta's post-secondary schools from being able to weigh in on social and political issues.

I think feeding materials that are not yours into AI without permission should be penalized by expulsion in whatever forms that can take across all parts of academia.
I think it’s a greater violation than passing off AI output as your own.

In case Canadians forgot, we DO actually have a real progressive option (since our two largest parties are right wing).
The NDP came out today proposing a wealth tax that would apply to people worth more than $10 million to pay for public grocery options, housing and healthcare.
