Durga Puja 2026:
- Restaurant sales in Kolkata increased by 25–40% compared to last year.
- Kolkata Metro carried 61.51 lakh passengers from Panchami to Dashami, a 32% increase over last year.
- Kolkata Metro recorded its highest-ever single-day ridership, with 12.01 lakh passengers on Sasthi.
- Sealdah Division recorded over 2.63 crore passenger journeys from Shashthi to Dashami, an increase of 33.44%. This year's extra Saptami day contributed to the increase.
- South City Mall reported double-digit growth in both footfall and sales.
- Flurys reported strong double-digit business growth during Durga Puja.
- Dine-out business across four outlets operated by Snacking and PICO's founder increased by around 30%.
- A Primarc mall recorded a 17% increase in footfall over the 45-day pre-Puja period.
- Outdoor advertising rates at major Durga Puja celebrations increased by at least 20%.

Yet, some people are still saying that Durga Puja was not as grand as before.
Perhaps it felt that way to those who turned Puja into a political agenda. But for many others, the festival went well, with huge crowds, busy restaurants and increased business across several sectors.
A tragic accident shook the whole of Bengal. Without this tragedy, everyone would have enjoyed Puja even more.
