Today, I attended the 19th meeting of the Ganga Flood Control Board (GFCB) in New Delhi, chaired by the Honโble Union Minister of Jal Shakti, Shri @CRPaatil Ji.
The meeting was attended by the Hon'ble Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri @RNK_Thakur Ji; Honโble Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Shri @VijayKChy Ji; Uttar Pradesh Jal Shakti Minister, Shri @swatantrabjp Ji; and senior Officials from various Ganga basin States and Central Ministries.
We engaged in comprehensive deliberations regarding permanent solutions to severe flood and river erosion issues, enhanced inter-state coordination, and robust long-term water management across the Ganga basin. Raised crucial matters concerning the protection of riverbanks, prevention of erosion and ensuring the safety and security of vulnerable communities in West Bengal as well as the States where the river flows.

A few months ago, the Government of West Bengal sent a report to the Centre on Ganga erosion. Acting on that report, Union Jal Shakti Minister Shri C R Patil today met the Chief Ministers of West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand in New Delhi.
At the meeting, Honโble Chief Minister Shri Suvendu Adhikari successfully secured the Centreโs cooperation for stopping Ganga erosion in Malda, Murshidabad and Nadia, the Ghatal Master Plan, the Sundarbans river embankments and flood control in Malda and North and South Dinajpur.
