Yes, I like $SIVE. It's a fun company to cover, since there's a lot of supply chain alpha here.
But the company completely Tall Poppy Syndromed itself last earnings.
And it's clearly shown in the drawdown.
Bit of a longer consolidated thought and some scattered bits of supply chain info:
- Sivers has 100M CW DFB laser capacity coming online Q4 2027 during an industry shortage.
And very large allocations from foundries online (they were doing these quals with Win Semi + 2 others back in 2023/2024), so they can actively monetize the bottleneck today.
The other interesting reason why bottlenecks are important (aside from ASP hikes), is because qualifications convert much faster + more likely given incentives around supply scarcity.
-> As one example, module makers have expanded the amount of suppliers, eg. (lightcounting cited companies expanding to 5-7+ suppliers from 2-3).
Innolight, for example last month responded to a question addressing tight 1.6T DFB laser supply in 2026–2027:
- Innolight was actively introducing new suppliers last month and are planning to sign 2-3 year-long contracts to lock upstream capacity
-> This is while your biggest merchant laser companies making up the world's 600m+ EML/CW laser capacity like $COHR have redirected lasers to their own programs. $LITE sold out into 2029, Landmark also locked a lot of their capacity into 2027-2029. $AAOI was an expected player, but ended up redirecting lasers into their own transceiver programs too.
And this coincides with times $SIVE has tremendous capacity available now + actively engaged with Chinese pluggables players (not saying it's Innolight, but just shows Chinese makers like Cambridge/Eoptolink are actively trying to secure laser capacity).
- Fun to note, before $JBL was announced, Sivers had and has ongoing direct engagements with hyperscalers as well.
We saw that hyperscalers approached $MTSI and $AAOI for laser capacity from their earnings transcripts (and hilariously got turned away from AAOI due to shortages).
So the odds pluggable makers or hyperscalers end up converting to capacity agreements with $SIVE seems a materially higher.
Just a little rant: for all the sellside/retail trying to model revenue, you can't just slap on a stupid 25-35% CAGR on NRE revenue since it's close to 0 revenue now.
Especially when they scale up to maybe 300M laser capacity (extrapolated from 2:1 external/internal capacity).
It's also not the same as $POET having OE packaging capacity at scale, since lasers are in a genuine shortage. So capacity is more likely to convert like how $AAOI is sold out, $LITE is sold out into 2029
We've already seen what revenue that laser capacity brings in since $LITE cited $5B in laser capacity from just one 2028 fab alone in Greensboro (on higher end ranges).
And whatever lasers Sivers sell, they're targeting ~50-60+ blended gross margins long term on maybe $3-6 for lower range lasers to $6-$12 for high end custom deployments. But no disclosures around capacity -> revenue conversion yet from Sivers.
Now here's the thing people don't really understand, "why no revenue?" for current opportunities?
$SIVE pre 2024 focused on custom development for future architectural shifts like CPO.
For custom deployments:
- We finally got conversion from 1 of their 4 or so lidar customers this week with ~ $AEVA.
- ~ $APPL was confirmed ongoing earlier this year with an explanation that "It takes tremendous amount of trials and algorithms way beyond just what we supply to them".
- All their customers from 2023-2024 like Ayar and 3 others, probably achieve volume in 2028 as CPO takes off.
Custom high end lasers programs are extremely sticky but take many years and are mainly NRE. And as seen with CPO scale up, faced delays with commercialization over the years.
So $SIVE from the CEO shift in 2024 realized "okay" let's ramp revenue with mass commercialization products today like 70mW/100mW/200mW lasers for 800g/1.6T pluggables.
And that's where they found $JBL and all your other large pluggable players today during the shortage.
Now... the work Sivers did in 2023-2024 earlier: Such as $AAPL, Ayar, $AEVA, other lidar/CPO players.
And their new mass commercialization opportunities like $JBL, $GFS, and many pluggables/NPO suppliers in engagement now.
Have all their inflection points converges 2027 onward, which is why I find the company compelling.
Where I think management went completely wrong was messaging and near-term execution:
- Deciding to focus on current tiny contracts like Seminex, AllSpace, Tachyon orders felt like the entire focus recently in earnings, shareholder letters, and media commentary
-> Brutal honesty to $SIVE management, majority of Western audiences literally don't care and it's immaterial to the valuation.
$SIVE moved 0% on all of the Seminex/AllSpace/Tachyon order announcements, and even dropped in price. But rallied like 50% on $GFS and something similar on $JBL announcement.
The reason why most took long positions in the first place was CPO.
So if $SIVE wants to go answer questions to Swedish media about "Why are you bleeding out" and defending that with cellular orders explaining pipeline conversion.
That's not going to help people stay long during drawdowns.
-> Second part was not committing to NASDAQ listing in a certain timeframe and actually executing.
- If there's delays, sure, just say it, but non-committal lawyer-like language is infuriating to hear, especially from the CFO.
I think they'll have that opportunity next month earnings to correct everything.
So wrapping up:
- There's nothing I see remotely close to $SIVE, in terms of % of global CW laser capacity they're coming online with relative to MC.
- They have a ton commercialization paths, from O-Net, $POET, $JBL, Ayar, $GFS, $AAPL, $AEVA, and many potential hyperscaler/pluggable engagements.
Even if one or two fall through, the breadth of ongoing quals is so deep + current laser bottleneck is severe, that it's more likely than not many will convert to production.
It's clear $SIVE wants to focus on dominating the laser chokepoint first, and ended up using their 700m SEK fundraise for capacity expansion.
But they should focus on communicating the billions in potential economic scale from that laser capacity conversion.
And execute on it.

I had a trading mentor once. Not some guru with a course. A legit maniac who blew $400,000 of his own money before he figured it out
Now he makes $80,000 a month and hasn't lost a funded account in 19 months
I asked him what changed. He looked at me like I was stupid and said:
"I stopped trying to be right and started trying to be rich. Those are two completely different goals and most traders never figure out the difference"
He explained:
"When I was losing $400,000, I had the best strategy in the room. My analysis was beautiful. My charts looked like a professor drew them. I could explain why price should go to a certain level better than anyone. And I was dead broke. Because I was trading to prove I was smart, not to make money"
"What does that mean practically?"
"It means I would enter a trade, price would go against me, and instead of taking the loss I'd add to the position because my analysis said I was RIGHT. The market was wrong. It would come back. I'd move my stop. Add more. Move it again. Add more. By the time I finally accepted I was wrong, a $500 loss had become a $15,000 loss. Because being right was more important to me than being profitable"
"So what changed?"
"I made one rule. The only rule that matters. When price hits my stop loss, I'm out. No exceptions. No analysis. No 'but the market should...' Nothing. Stop hit. Position closed. Move on to the next setup. That one rule saved my career"
"That's it? Just honoring stop losses?"
"That's it. But you don't understand how hard it is. Your ego is screaming at you. Your analysis looks perfect. Every fiber of your being says 'just hold a little longer, it'll come back.' And sometimes it does come back. Which makes it even more dangerous. Because the one time it doesn't come back is the time you lose your entire account"
"He pulled up his journal and showed me two periods:
Period 1 (the $400k loss era): Average win: $2,000. Average loss: $8,000. Win rate: 55%. He was RIGHT more often than wrong and still hemorrhaging money because his losses were 4x his wins. He was right about direction 55% of the time but too stubborn to take small losses when he was wrong
Period 2 (the $80k/month era): Average win: $3,500. Average loss: $800. Win rate: 42%. He was WRONG more often than right and making $80,000/month because his wins were 4x his losses. Same strategy. Same chart. Same person. The only thing that changed was that he started taking his stop losses instead of fighting them"
"The math is so simple it's insulting. If your average win is bigger than your average loss, you make money. You don't need to be right. You need to let your winners run and cut your losers fast. That's the entire profession in one sentence"
"Why did it take you $400,000 to learn that?"
"Because every trading course teaches you how to ENTER trades. Nobody teaches you how to LOSE trades. Losing is a skill. Accepting that you're wrong quickly and moving on with a small loss preserved is the most profitable skill in trading. It's also the one nobody practices because it doesn't feel good and you can't make a sexy YouTube video about it"
"Any other advice?"
"Yes. Lose on purpose."
"What?"
"When you start on a demo account, I want you to deliberately take losing trades. Enter a trade and immediately hit your stop loss. Watch the $500 disappear. Feel it. Then look at your account and notice that you're still alive. The account is still there. You can still trade tomorrow. Do this 50 times. After 50 intentional losses, you'll never be scared of a loss again. And a trader who isn't scared of losing is the most dangerous person in the market"
You are broke because you never lost

The GRU hacked into Jared Kushner's iPhone. Dutch military intelligence (MIVD) then recruited a GRU spy who gave them access to the hacked phone. What MIVD discovered was that Kushner had access to two bank accounts --one Azerbaijani, the other Israeli --where Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Emirati ruler Mohammed bin Zayed deposited money. It sounds like a slightly far-fetched episode of "Slow Horses," but it's real. ‼️ WE ARE ABOUT TO WITNESS THE BIGGEST WAR IN HISTORY FOR THE SURVIVAL OF PETRODOLLAR
US military has quietly been scaling back its troop presence at bases across the Middle East.
US Embassies in the Middle East have been ordered evacuation of non-emergency staff members and families.
Similar evacuation orders were issued during the 40-day war in 2026, before conflict broke out.
Over $750,000,000,000 wiped out from the US stock market at open today on worries about oil surge and AI.
Iran has also announced that if the U.S.-Israel attack happens again, entire American infrastructure will be targeted in the region including data centers, sea optic cables and American companies.
Iran has already laid down the new law of energy: Every single barrel of oil that passes through the Strait of Hormuz, the artery carrying ~20% of the world’s crude, must be settled in Chinese yuan. No dollars.
The moment that demand sticks, the 50-year monopoly that forced the world to recycle oil revenues into U.S. Treasuries collapses overnight. The petrodollar doesn’t weaken. It dies. And the yuan (backed by real oil flow) becomes the new settlement currency of the energy world.
Jeff Currie, former Goldman Sachs head of commodities and lifelong insider of the dollar system, just laid out the one line America cannot cross. Handing control of the Strait of Hormuz to Iran is not a tactical retreat. It is the formal end of the United States as global hegemon and the death of the dollar as the world’s reserve currency.
JP Morgan CEO Jamie Dimon said that Iran had its “throat on the Strait of Hormuz” for 45+ years and told the Trump administration to “finish this thing and finish it right.”
The faith of the fiat system is now being decided in the skies over the Middle East.

$BE is down another 5%!! (they were already down 8.7% today) after they reported a massive EPS and revenue beat.
EPS grows 527% YoY!
Bloom delivered $1.24 billion in revenue, driven by hyperscalers seeking reliable, onsite power to support expanding AI digital infrastructure and data center architecture.
Management also bumped targets to a midpoint of $4.5 billion (122% YoY growth), marking their third guidance raise this year based on strong customer demand.
GAAP gross margins jumped 453 basis points to 33.8%, proving the company is effectively scaling its manufacturing capacity while maintaining strict cost discipline.
They keep on delivering!
If the market punishes this, it is another buying opportunity.
$BE to report earnings tonight. I bought the company at $176 three months ago when it got beaten down after earnings. I'm currently 25% in my position and looking forward to the earnings tonight.
The revenue estimations are $1,070 million, and the EPS estimations are 0.67. They have a strong earnings history, and I expect another beat tonight.
Some other key things I will be looking for tonight
AI data center power demand sustainability
Artificial intelligence requires massive, uninterrupted electricity that the traditional grid cannot supply fast enough. Bloom’s onsite fuel cells bypass these grid bottlenecks, making data centers their primary engine for future growth.
Progress in executing manufacturing expansion plans
Bloom has a massive backlog of unfulfilled orders from tech hyperscalers. To turn those promised contracts into actual cash, they must prove their factories can successfully scale up production capacity without operational stumbles.
Managing project delivery timeline delays
Winning a contract is only the first step. Investors need proof that Bloom can physically install and activate these complex energy systems on schedule, as deployment delays directly hurt their credibility with major tech clients.
I will listen to the earnings call tonight as well and will post an update.

Coherent has finally put a clearer timeline around CPO revenue.
Initial scale-out CPO revenue is expected in its December quarter, while scale-up applications are still targeted for the second half of calendar 2027.
PhotonLink-related revenue is also expected to begin ramping in Q4 2026.
That is meaningful because it moves CPO from a lab roadmap into reported revenue.
It still does not mean full-scale adoption arrives immediately. Early shipments, customer qualification and a broad production ramp are separate steps.
Coherent says fiscal 2027 capacity is largely booked, and customers are asking for faster delivery.
Nvidia’s $2B investment gives the company more room to expand critical optical capacity, including InP.
For $COHR, the next proof points are shipment volume, yield and margins—not just the date of the first revenue.

$NOK is scaling its own InP fabs 21x bigger for AI Optics.
Does this kill $AAOI and $SIVE? What about $LITE and $COHR?
No. It makes the AI optics trade even more bullish.
Nokia is securing its own supply (San Jose 24/7 by end-Oct, Chandler from early 2027) while $LITE and $COHR say their InP is sold out.
Guys, this is vertical integration by a systems player, not merchant dumping!
$AAOI already grows its own lasers in Texas. $SIVE is expanding its own DFB capacity in Glasgow + foundries capacity secured. Different layers.
Nokia just printed €933M Optical (+18%), €1.5B AI & Cloud orders (+118%), and is guiding 25-30% Optical + IP growth in 2027.
They’re putting working capital ahead of demand because capacity is the constraint.
More InP capacity in a sold-out market confirms the setup. Demand is still running far ahead of supply.
We remain long and bullish optics. NFA.

NOKIA IS SCALING UP ITS OWN INDIUM PHOSPHIDE FOR AI OPTICS: ITS TWO NEW U.S. FABS ADD 21X THE FLOOR SPACE OF THE SUNNYVALE FAB IT RUNS TODAY
SUNNYVALE, Oct. 20 - Mehrdad Ziari, Nokia's ($NOK) senior vice president for optical modules, told Optica's PECC Summit that scaling AI optics takes sustained investment in photonic integration and manufacturing capacity, not just faster devices, according to Converge Digest's report from the room published Oct. 22.
- Fabs: the legacy Sunnyvale fab at 60,000 sq ft, a new 6-inch InP fab in San Jose at 185,000 sq ft, and a Chandler, Arizona site at 1.1 million sq ft being converted to 6-inch InP
- One InP chip: four lasers, eight modulators, eight optical amplifiers and power monitors on a single photonic integrated circuit
- 1.6T linear pluggable shown at ECOC: eight 200G lanes in an OSFP at 8.6 W, about 5.4 pJ/bit
- Hybrid tunable laser: InP gain with silicon photonics wavelength control, tuning across more than 50 nm
I put the slide next to Nokia's last two quarterly releases. In July, Nokia said San Jose would start ramping in Q4 2026 for demand it expects in 2027 and 2028. Its Oct. 22 Q3 presentation says the fab moves to 24/7 operations by the end of October. Chandler is NXP's campus: Nokia leases part of it from early 2027, subject to regulatory approvals, converts it to InP, and closes on the full site in Q1 2029.
The 21x is our math on square footage, and footprints aren't wafer output, yield or shipped modules. It does show how big a bet Nokia is placing on owning its own InP. Coherent ($COHR) and Lumentum ($LITE) came to PECC saying their InP is sold out. Nokia came with floor plans for 2027 to 2029.

BREAKING: Dutch spies hacked Jared Kushner's iPhone and watched him access a Dubai bank account holding hundreds of millions funneled from Azerbaijan, part of at least $2 billion MBS and MBZ placed for him after he promised to push their agenda with Trump, per a Vanity Fair excerpt.
"Jared was looking for shortcuts in his diplomacy. He promised MBZ that he'd push their agenda with Trump if they participated in a fund. He wanted normalization with Israel so that business could take off," a source who knew the arrangement said.
The money was meant to redraw the region's map and lock in normalization with Israel. Roughly $1 billion of it was deposited in Israel's Central Bank for Kushner, with Netanyahu requiring dual-key approval on any transfers.
The two royals initially discussed more than $10 billion for a shared slush fund. That narrowed to roughly $2 billion deposited into accounts Kushner could access, including roughly $750 million at First Abu Dhabi Bank under a UAE charity used as cover for covert operations.
The reveal comes as Kushner is deeply involved in Iran war diplomacy, where Iran has accused him and Steve Witkoff of pocketing $9 billion through market manipulation, using insider knowledge of the talks to trade oil futures, energy stocks, and prediction markets.

$BE’s CEO just made some HUGE predictions about the future of power during the company's earnings call.
One of the biggest takeaways was how confident management is about the future of on site power generation. The CEO essentially argued that the traditional electrical grid was never designed to handle the enormous, concentrated power demands we’re seeing from AI data centers. Hyperscalers are increasingly realizing that waiting years for grid connections isn’t realistic, which is why they’re turning to companies like Bloom to generate electricity directly at their facilities. What I found particularly interesting is that management believes this shift will eventually extend far beyond AI data centers. Factories, hospitals, military installations, commercial buildings and even entire international markets could increasingly move toward generating their own electricity. The CEO compared this transition to developing countries skipping landline telephones and moving directly to mobile phones.
Management also made it clear that they’re already preparing for demand beyond 5 GW of annual manufacturing capacity. They aren’t committing to a specific timeline, but the CEO said he doesn’t see them dialing down production expansion anytime soon. The goal is to increase capacity alongside customer demand without becoming the bottleneck preventing projects from moving forward. Speaking of bottlenecks, there was an interesting update on Nebius $NBIS. Bloom confirmed that its equipment is already ready for the first phase of Nebius’s 300 MW New Jersey data center. Management emphasized that they will have power available as Nebius brings additional capacity online, meaning Bloom does not expect to be the reason the project gets delayed.
The CEO also referenced Jensen Huang’s comments at GTC Berlin, where Jensen reportedly said that every quarter of delay for a 1 GW AI data center could translate into $10 billion in missed revenue. Think about what that means. When hyperscalers are potentially losing billions because they cannot bring compute online quickly enough, the speed at which a company can deliver electricity becomes incredibly valuable. Another important development was Bloom’s growing relationship with utilities. Historically, the company has largely sold on site power directly to customers. Now, utilities are beginning to recognize that installing Bloom’s fuel cells throughout their own networks could be faster and more economical than waiting for massive transmission and generation projects. Management believes this could become a major growth opportunity because utilities could purchase systems in anticipation of future electricity demand rather than waiting for individual customers. Carbon capture was another major topic. Bloom highlighted its 700 MW project involving Google and AEP, which will use fuel cells alongside carbon capture to provide near zero carbon electricity. Management explained that its technology produces a more concentrated stream of CO2 than conventional combustion systems, potentially making carbon capture easier and more economical. The CEO believes this could eventually become a trillion dollar market opportunity, and said hyperscalers are already asking about making their systems carbon-capture ready. There was also a discussion around 800V DC power delivery, which I think is worth paying attention to. Today, data centers lose efficiency converting electricity multiple times before it reaches the actual AI servers. Bloom believes its technology could eliminate some of those conversions, potentially saving billions in operating costs. Management is already having conversations with hyperscalers and expects adoption to accelerate as newer server architectures become available.
Overall, my biggest takeaway is that Bloom is positioning itself as much more than a fuel cell manufacturer. Management sees the company becoming a major part of how electricity is generated and delivered, especially as AI, automation, and electrification continue pushing power demand higher. I thought the call was very encouraging, particularly the comments around manufacturing expansion, Nebius, utilities, and the growing demand for on site power. The big question now is how effectively Bloom can execute as the scale of these projects continues increasing. Yes, $BE is down nearly 7% after hours despite reporting an extremely strong quarter, but I think a lot of this has to do with the current market environment we’re in. High growth stocks are getting punished across the board, regardless of how well their underlying businesses are performing. I’m not going to pretend I know where the bottom is, but my long term conviction hasn’t changed. Once the broader market stabilizes and investors become more comfortable taking risks again, I believe $BE will recover as well. The fundamentals are moving in the right direction, and that’s what matters most to me.
