BREAKING: The Republican Party of Florida wants a judge to pull a Democratic TV ad about the Hope Florida grand jury report. It says airing the report's "content, gist, or import" is now a crime.
The lawsuit, filed at 11:36 p.m. Friday in Highlands County, targets the Florida Democratic Party, its three statewide candidates and 11 TV stations in Orlando and Tampa Bay.
The party also referred the stations to FDLE and prosecutors. One copy went to the statewide prosecutor, who works in AG James Uthmeier's office. Uthmeier is the candidate the ad targets.
What the lawsuit leaves out:
- The grand jury report has been public since Aug. 26.
- The appeals court ruling it relies on isn't final until Friday at the earliest.
- The U.S. Supreme Court struck down part of the same secrecy law in 1990.
Early voting starts Monday in many counties.

News: Florida’s 1st DCA has ordered Leon County State Attorney Jack Campbell to explain under oath why a special master shouldn’t investigate the unauthorized disclosure of the Hope Florida grand jury records — and why he shouldn’t face sanctions and/or a Florida Bar referral.
The seven-page court order outlines the judges’ reasoning and provides additional details about the handling/disclosure of confidential grand jury records.

There have been numerous reports that misrepresent the facts surrounding an AHCA settlement agreement that has been available to the public for two years. Understanding this is political season and there may be a tendency to misrepresent the facts, it is important to clarify three points:
1. The Centene settlement agreement was negotiated by AHCA, a Florida healthcare agency. The AHCA negotiated agreement made clear how settlement money would be dispersed, to include funds going to Hope Florida.
2. As is standard practice, and would be expected, the AG’s Office was one of multiple agencies that signed the final agreement for execution and release of claims.
3. The AG’s office had no knowledge of how funds would be spent or played any role in how Hope Florida, AHCA, or the legislature would spend the settlement money.
Attempts to characterize this any other way are disingenuous.
