50 years ago, Mayor Beame left a time capsule for the mayor 50 years from then to open, containing a water quality report from the 1970s and a letter asking the future mayor to deliver a “clean and beautiful environment,” including a clean Hudson River.
Today, Mayor Mamdani opened that time capsule and reaffirmed the city’s environmental goals by breaking ground on a $185 million project to modernize the Port Richmond Wastewater Resource Recovery Facility.
