There has been a huge amount of experimental philosophy research on the concept of KNOWLEDGE
This research finds that the ordinary concept doesn’t work in anything like the way philosophers said it does

Philosopher @_NatHansen_ has created a website that uses AI to take people through a Socratic dialogue about a philosophical thought experiment
I just gave it a try. In my opinion, it really does help users think through these questions

What happens with claims about "manifesting" and "staying positive" in contexts of oppression?
TLDR: self-help discourse (given its core principles) blames victims and causes epistemic and affective injustice.
w/ Sally Latham & @Agrowoh
summarized in this blog post ⬇️
How helpful is self-help? On Imperfect Cognitions this week, Carme Isern-Mas discusses the potential harms of everyday self-help discourse in contexts of systemic oppression.

Philosophy was mostly "armchair" in the mid-20th century—but it's not anymore! Philosophers have increasingly cited empirical sources and discussed empirical data and evidence. In fact, as of the 2020s, non-empirical philosophy has become the minority.

How can researchers overcome #AcquiescenceBias?
In a #questionnaire, acquiescence is a tendency to agree with statements or answer affirmatively regardless of survey content.

Why does everyday psychotherapy language feel both empowering and troubling?
TLDR: Because two practices are at play: mental health-speak, which empowers, and therapy-speak, which distorts.
A summary of our paper (w/ @Agrowoh ) in the great Imperfect Cognitions blog. 🙌
This week, Manuel Almagro (University of Valencia) and Carme Isern-Mas (University of the Balearic Islands), present their recent paper 'Blunting concepts: The double-edged effect of popularizing psychotherapy language' (Philosophical Psychology).
