Since both sides now agree that "absence of evidence" is very different from "evidence of absence", with this letter [1] we openly ask the @UniofOxford to uphold methodological rigor and revise the title on its official website to avoid misinformation.

Good to see the collection in print at at last, as it took years for it to get out. Anyone who wants a copy of my contribution and can't download it from the SIM site can contact me for it.

Elsewhere your arguments are as wordy as any you attack, yet ignore the core reasons "statistical significance" and "confidence" have oversold statistics and damaged much scientific literature via their confusion with ordinary language.>
Most importantly, statistical methods are in the end only numerical data manipulations, with plug-ins for contextual input that are oversimplified yet hard to understand and use properly, so end up defaulting to contextually irrelevant values of convenience.>
Thus, we should not be surprised when imposing these methods leads to inferences or decisions that look absurd when viewed within the application context, and that distort literature as seen in Fig. 1 of onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…
Congratulations on this detailed critique of a bad approach! (footnote: unit-randomized experiments can be found in Peirce in the 1880s; Fisher built statistical methods around randomized designs and campaigned for their use. See Stigler 1978 projecteuclid.org/journals/a…)

My neighborhood too - I remember her as a child, and Arthur as the best neighbor one could have:

Congratulations Pavlos on another fine contribution!
Excited to publish @TheHDSR an overview on interpreting randomized controlled trials focusing on information. By prioritizing this fundamental principle, previously obscure statistical concepts reveal their intrinsic beauty: hdsr.mitpress.mit.edu/pub/yb…

One of the main issues is that those who most need certain information are less likely to reach or choose to consult the sources of such information. Nevertheless, this seminar is definitely among the knowledge that we all need.
