With government attempts to cut our pay yet again in real terms (continuing decades of pay erosion), and no meaningful negotiation on our now 23 year old contract, this should surprise absolutely nobody. 🦀

🚨 BREAKING 🚨 Consultants in England have confirmed fresh strike dates for 25 and 26 November, after failing to secure a meaningful commitment from the government on improving working conditions and pay. More to follow

Ukrainian Starshield terminals still aren't working properly. Europe must end its strategic dependence on American technology to protect our security in the future.

This is how they will allow PAs (and ACP/ANP/ACCPs) to do anything a doctor can do. Anything. As long as you are 'credentialed' and someone at your local hospital says you can do it, they will be able to do anything

Prescribing rights are not transferable between roles. If this 'Lead' PA is employed as a PA he is not allowed to prescribe.

Your @BMALondon calls London NHS employers to come to the negotiating table. There would be no need for escalation on doctors’ London Weighting, if we can agree a solution early.
Doctors’ London Weighting has been frozen since 2005. Enough is enough. Today, BMA London has written to NHS London’s Regional Director calling for employers across the capital to come to the negotiating table. If you work in London, vote in our indicative ballot below 👇🏼

It’s a very good question! I’d love to know exactly how the government/DHSC is interacting (instructing?) the Royal Colleges on this entire issue. The correspondence would, I suspect, make interesting reading.

London weighting for doctors hasn't changed since 2005. Time to fix that. Our campaign events start today at St Thomas' Hospital, led by your London reps and BMA staff. Come and say hello. Check your emails and vote yes in the indicative ballot by November 30th!

The NHS was absolutely decimated under hunt including the workforce plans How are these charlatans in public office?
It was a disastrous mistake in 2004 to scrap family doctors. I tried and failed to bring them back. Will this government do any better?

We make -progress 2 apologies from 2 organisations received 2 more to go. You either apologise - or we take it through channels as needed. And we use everything the system can provide to help- whether it be FTSU, SAR or FOI. Gaslighting individuals when raising safety concerns needs to stop. Especially now when every single bit of concern raised- increased referrals, worse support for primary care, patients having lesser care- has now come to pass. If you want to make allegations- and can't back it up with proof- it's also known as 'Libel' And we take things forward- as long as it takes. As I said? I am grieving but I am still...Partha Kar. Ask @NHSEngland or @NHSE_WTE
8 and a half months of 'investigation' thrown out after no evidence found- and no case to answer. A few orgs trying-together. There's a saying... 'If you come for the King...' I am grieving But I am still..Partha Kar. And there is a need to stop this happening to anyone else.

I am not sure how to take this gentleman seriously. After his absolute act of unfettered carnage he has wrought across the #NHS It's a low bar- but wow he was a diabolically poor Health Secretary. @RoyLilley @HSJEditor @JanetEastham

Orchestrated tactics. Run down the service, people get fed up. Government then has perfect excuse to sell it off to private corporates.
Public support for the NHS’s founding principles is slipping, not because the vision failed, but because people are losing faith in a system pushed to breaking point. Decades of underfunding, understaffing, and systemic neglect are taking their toll. 🔗 theguardian.com/society/2026…

A Doctor with license to practice Medicine can work independently in NHS GP practice ONLY if licensed as a GP or in a training post supervised by a GP However people without license to practice medicine like ANP, ACP, PA,FCP,Paramedic, etc can“autonomously”work as a GP substitute

What??? What did you do?? I became a family doctor in 2003- and remain so.. It’s you and your predecessors and successors who have harped on about access when we know our strength re continuity of care. And it doesn’t help when govt and MSM demonise GPs, prompting numbers to drop

It is as if people have forgotten that as little as 20 years ago we had family doctors, our own doctor who followed us through births marriages and deaths and cared for us. This is government managed decline through underfunding and disruption.

Many UK med schools have already recruited many non medically qualified staff to deliver clinical teaching which previously used to be delivered by medically qualified Doctors. Exams set by them. With GMC in charge of Med Ed who have happily enabled this

After this, there is simply no way to restore trust in Starlink, particularly in Starshield as a defence option. Alternatives will take over within two years.
SpaceX Investor @GerberKawasaki tells me he’s not only “disgusted…from a humanity perspective” by restrictions on Starlink in Ukraine, but also: “…they've given everybody a reason not to use Starlink, that Starlink isn't reliable for national security for anybody but Trump.”

The lame excuse Gov give for this NHS pay cut is that they state NHS care would have to suffer if pay matched inflation. This is utter nonsense. The UK Govt can fund both. The UK Govt has CHOSEN to tie its shoelaces together so it can’t run the NHS properly. Detestable lies
Cutting doctors’ pay won’t keep them in the NHS. The DDRB must show its independence and recommend what patients and the NHS need, not what the Government is prepared to pay. Full statement: bma.org.uk/bma-media-centre/…
