Money is created when government spends. Money is not the problem. The question is what we do with money and for whose benefit. Let's start with renewable energy, insulated homes, rent controls and council houses? Their economics has delivered poverty and billionaires. Enough!
“Next year he actually has to find the money that doesn’t exist.”
“There are things the Government can do that aren’t just about tax.”
Rachel Wolf, who co-wrote the 2019 Conservative manifesto and Paul Nowak, TUC General Secretary, discuss the challenge facing Andy Burnham’s government, ahead of next week’s Budget

@TheGreenParty, for the sake of our futures can you stop saying ‘raise taxes to pay for…’
Tax removes money from the economy - it doesn’t ‘fill government coffers’.
Multiple crises have arrived because our political parties do not understand this. For all our sakes, be better.

The question here is - does Rachel actually know she's talking complete nonsense or does she believe it? Money that doesn't exist?? Issuing public or private credit creates money, a fact confimed by that wacky fringe anarcho-commie organisation called the Bank of England.

I'm not sure what Miatta's "common sense" approach will look like when we all share this during the next round of wildfires and floods.
Insulate homes. Invest in renewables. Keep fossil fuels in the ground.
A "common sense" approach to climate change & clean energy can fend off challenges from the Greens, energy sec Miatta Fahnbulleh told @politicshome
Zack Polanski said Labour had “abandoned all credibility in the fight against climate change" by approving gas drilling at Jackdaw

Cool. Let's stop selling bonds and stop paying interest on reserves. No interest, problem solved – at Knottingley, England
The UK government has, since April, spent no less than £61 billion - that’s £61,000,000,000 - on debt interest payments.
That’s equivalent to our entire annual defence budget - on just half a year’s worth of debt service costs, not paying back a penny of our national debt.
For £61bn you could build 40 state-of-the-art hospitals.
Or employ 100,000 nurses for a decade
Or fund free-at-the-point-of-use social care, across the entire UK, for three years.
Watch this short “When The Facts Change” video for more on the UK’s soaring debt interest bill - the biggest national scandal our mainstream media continues to ignore.

This man either believed fiscal ‘black holes’ were an actual possibility in a currency issuing regime - or he lied to us.
Either way, we need to expunge these Davos/Treasury monsters from our political system.

This Labour government has:
✅ Hit its target of having the fastest economic growth in the G7
📈 Secured multiple unexpectedly good growth statistics, and
🧑💻Started to deliver more efficient public services
Now the budget next week should:
💷 Help consumers with the cost of living, and
📊 Help businesses to grow, export and employ more.

Why does a state that issues its own currency by decree need a wealth fund?
It’s based on the same illiterate ‘fiscal black-hole’ - ‘we’ve run out of money’ madness that got us here.
Modern fiat nations do not need to save the currency they freely issue.

‘We'd have a British sovereign wealth fund now that will be worth probably a trillion pounds’
Chancellor @JohnHealey_MP suggests what Britain could have gained if it had set up an energy wealth fund like Norway’s back in the 1980s

Healey is lying. As Chancellor he surely knows that not one £ the government spends comes from taxes. Yet he hides behind Thatcher’s great lie in order to kick the renewable can further down the road.
The establishment has been pulling this con for near 50 years.
@MMTUK_PRG
Britain has been exposed to volatile international energy markets for far too long.
That is why Labour is establishing a new Energy Wealth Fund which will reinvest tax revenues from North Sea oil and gas into renewable and low carbon projects to support the clean energy transition and bring bills down for good.
The lame excuse Gov give for this NHS pay cut is that they state NHS care would have to suffer if pay matched inflation. This is utter nonsense. The UK Govt can fund both. The UK Govt has CHOSEN to tie its shoelaces together so it can’t run the NHS properly. Detestable lies
Cutting doctors’ pay won’t keep them in the NHS.
The DDRB must show its independence and recommend what patients and the NHS need, not what the Government is prepared to pay.

The £3 trillion @griffitha refers to, is of course the net savings in the UK economy parked with the Treasury to earn £120 billion a year interest. When the MP talks of cutting the deficit, he doesn’t mean the £130 billion paid to banks, he means welfare.

2004 wasn’t the time Family Doctors were scrapped
2010 seems to be the moment the decline started
@Jeremy_Hunt you failed because you didn’t invest in GPs
Funding was cut 2014-2024 by 20% per patient, training more but no funding to retain
Then there was funding of ARRS 🤷🏻♂️

When will he renationalise utilities? When will he announce full funding for local councils and the NHS? When will he raise the personal allowance? When will he increase the state pension to a decent level? When will he remove the barriers to claim benefits?

Libertarians think taxation is theft but somehow charging $800 for an ambulance ride is the beautiful expression of voluntary exchange.

The audacity of a government listing “higher inflation, energy costs and reducing income” as arguments to cut NHS staff pay.
NHS staff also face these things, and they’re not in government, they’re not in the unique governmental position to materially influence them, unlike… 🤔

The UK Govt chooses to squeeze doctors’ pay (once again) at a time of significant challenges across the NHS
NHS doctors are not an army of inflation fighters to be conscripted by @andyburnham as he chooses 👇🏻
