My guess is they’ll try everything to get in the good graces of Brussels
Serbia’s new course: Belgrade will cut off arms supplies to Ukraine Serbia’s new government has promised to stop all arms exports to conflict zones, including supplies to Western intermediaries who then transfer weapons to Ukraine. Reuters reports this. But it is too early to draw conclusions. It will take time to understand whether they really intend to do what they have said or whether these are just words.

🇭🇺🤝🇺🇸 Anita Orbán will meet Marco Rubio in Washington on Tuesday, marking the first bilateral ministerial visit to the United States since the new Tisza government took office. The talks could test whether Budapest can preserve the close ties with Washington built under the previous government despite its EU realignment and the two administrations’ sharply different views of Viktor Orbán👇 hungarianconservative.com/ar…

Thanks for calling it out Haley. Et tu Jocelyn Benson, Gretchen Whitmer, Gary Peters and others?
This type of fearmongering about Israel is wrong. It is not a winning strategy for any state. It does nothing to help Michigan Democrats win up and down the ballot in eight days. Do we need to lower costs by building more homes, securing people’s health care, and creating a fairer federal tax code? Yes, we do!! How we do so is not by blaming the high costs of our goods on the only Jewish homeland in the world. I want to see Democrats succeed at every level, and that means keeping our focus on lowering costs for Michigan families and reining in this out-of-control President.

Yep. Andy Burnham and Emmanuel Macron will prevent Trump from installing a pro dictator UN chief
Orban will not become UN Secretary-General. A veto from even one permanent member of the Security Council would block his candidacy. The UK and/or France will block this clown’s candidacy. It’s ironic that Orbán has spent years abusing this system against Ukraine, and now he’ll fall victim to it himself.

I’m frankly not surprised that Cenk Uygur is the one behind the disgusting Abdul ad but it’s also telling that Abdul won’t denounce it cuz Cenk Uygur truly is one of the most vile men in progressive politics

No one ever said MAGA was remotely competent
Some MAGA foreign policy Monday morning quarterbacking: some annoyance that the U.S. didn’t do more to persuade São Paulo Governor Tarcísio de Freitas to run v. Lula because Bolsonaro was a weak a candidate (the latter point via Rio Times in July) riotimesonline.com/brazil-ri…

I’m glad that some are taking action
BREAKING!! Seven bipartisan lawmakers warn U.S. banks, fuel distributors and port authorities that importing Russian diesel could invite legal action and congressional scrutiny, while helping fund Moscow’s war in Ukraine.

Tho I wouldn’t be shocked if they tried to speed up EU accession tho whether Brussels is willing to partner with them is a good question
The new Serbian government will be so absorbed with reform as well as economic problems I doubt it will have much of a foreign policy at all. The main difference will be less preoccupation with looking like a grand historical player, more focus on fixing the roads

Elon turned this site from a left wing echo chamber into a right wing echo chamber
Four years ago today. Although Elon Musk's transformation from reasonable centrist to misinformation purveyor and MAGA bankroller has been a big disappointment to me, his takeover of Twitter — while certainly not without its problems — has been positive overall, if for no other reason than that it allowed the posting of legitimate statistical and scientific information on issues relating to gender, race, immigration, and crime that had previously been met with user bans under the old regime.

Many of those who ruled on behalf of gay marriage were appointed by Clinton or Obama including 4 of the 5 who ruled on behalf of Obergefell
Democrats did nothing for gay marriage. It was achieved entirely thanks to individuals pursuing equal protection plans through the federal courts

The idiot leaders who let Hezbollah create a mafia state insiders of Lebanon still don’t get it
‼️Lebanese Druze leader Walid Jumblatt, in an interview with Hadley Gamble: • “The Americans are withdrawing from the region, and the Israelis are filling the vacuum.” • “We made a mistake by choosing Marco Rubio’s track instead of the Islamabad track. Rubio’s approach will lead us nowhere.” • “I do not believe Lebanese-Israeli negotiations, in their current format, will produce results as long as Israel continues to occupy southern Lebanon.” • “The government tried, but believing that the Americans can pressure Israel to withdraw is a complete illusion.” • “Israel is seeking to erase the memories of southern Lebanon, as though preparing to establish settlements in parts of it.” • Calls for internal dialogue based on the principle that only the Lebanese state has the right to possess weapons. • Says the only way to disarm Hezbollah is through dialogue and possibly a compromise, with the support of Iran and Israel. • Suggests that the British-Irish experience could serve as a model for Hezbollah’s disarmament, noting that even Margaret Thatcher accepted a compromise with the IRA. • “I cannot accept a hardline approach toward Hezbollah if it leads to civil war.” • “We cannot eliminate the Shia community or tell them to leave. They are part of Lebanon.” • Rejects the establishment of cantons, stressing that Christians and Muslims must continue living together. • Says Israel’s policy is aimed at erasing Palestinian national identity, from Gaza to the West Bank, while pursuing territorial expansion in Syria and Lebanon. • “Regardless of who wins the Israeli elections, nothing will change.” • Says Israeli policy is rooted in the Old Testament and biblical narratives. • Calls on the United States to send better diplomats and adopt better policies toward the region. • “Syria’s Druze are taking the wrong path by choosing to become a tool in Israel’s hands.” • “If we, as Druze, do not embrace broader movements of national solidarity and Arab nationalism, we are heading toward collective suicide.” • Says the Druze in Israel do not determine their own fate, arguing that the Israeli government makes decisions affecting Druze communities in both Israel and Syria. • Calls for engagement with Iran, arguing that Hezbollah’s actual policies have been determined in Tehran since Nasrallah’s assassination and that dialogue could help reduce escalation. • “The region’s crises will not end as long as Netanyahu, the Israeli government, or Israeli society believe they can do whatever they want through force.”

Going to a Trump rally is stupid tho the US being blamed for the loss of German auto jobs is indicative of the parochialism of parts of German industry that didn’t see China as a threat

Machado has the people’s legitimacy and Washington realizes that
A sign of tensions to come with Washington? Maria Corina Machado's national coordinator in #Venezuela says the US-backed negotiating table has become more of a negotiating "stool," because "they are not listening to the people."

As usual Jay is right
Viktor Orbán is a dream candidate for the United States, Russia, and China -- a dream candidate to be U.N. secretary-general. It should disquiet Americans to be aligned with two mass-murderous dictatorships. But are we still America, really? wsj.com/opinion/viktor-orban…
