Ed Sheeran addresses the controversy surrounding Macklemore’s removal from his tour and says, “What is happening in Gaza is catastrophic and unjustifiable.”
“Before I play some songs tonight, I hope it’s okay if I say a few words about this last week,” Sheeran said at the top of Saturday’s show. “I’m used to my music being criticized, and I’m always happy to take that because I’m lucky. A lot of you like my stuff, and to be honest, I’m surprised. I’m not surprised that I’ve even done it. You know, it’s normal. But this week, the criticism was about something much more important, and I’ve had to take and make difficult decisions, and I am making mistakes, and I’m so so sorry.”
Sheeran also said he was “appalled by the conflict between Israel and Palestine,” describing the suffering caused by the war as a “human tragedy,” while explaining that he has generally sought to keep his concerts focused on “unity, joy, escapism, love” rather than his own political views.

BREAKING: Meta has reached a $16.68 billion settlement over a landmark lawsuit alleging its social media platforms harmed children.
The breaking settlement ends claims against the company as the trial was set to move forward.
@JonathanTurley says Meta has the financial firepower to absorb the impact as the company agrees to settle claims brought by states alleging its social media platforms harmed children.
But he warns the bigger consequence may be what comes next, calling the settlement "seismic" and predicting it could encourage more states and plaintiffs' attorneys to take action.

The DOJ is removing years of online records about Capitol riot prosecutions, saying the case pages were “partisan propaganda” tied to the Biden-era Justice Department.
The erased releases tracked hundreds of criminal cases stemming from the 2021 Capitol breach, including convictions for violent assaults on police officers.
At the same time, the administration is opening a $1.776 billion fund for people who claim they were unfairly investigated or prosecuted — and officials haven’t ruled out compensation for convicted Jan. 6 rioters.
