German car maker profits tumbling because their sales to China are crashing. China, where EV sales are skyrocketing. Obviously delaying the phase out of ICEs that no-one in China wants to buy will save the German car makers. This is just snowmen voting to postpone summer.

Infrastructure policy adviser doesn't know that Waterloo isn't in the square mile. Or perhaps does but is being deliberately misleading.
A reminder that in 1995, the 900-yr old Foundation that funds and maintains five bridges in the square mile was so flush with cash that they widened its remit. Not to fund and maintain other bridges in London, but to grant around £900m since then to charities.

An unimpressive hill to die on given a universal application of said usage
The usage of "a" versus "an" should be based on the sound of the next syllable, rather than the first letter of the word.

The UK chose to stop paying its gym membership, but it didn't choose to stop going to the gym. The gym owners could have still let it in to use the machines for free
The UK did not choose to make it much harder to sell to its neighbours, its neighbours did. The EU could have chosen to have 0 tariffs if it had wanted to. I am sure the UK would have accepted that.

New Zealand is just happy to actually be on the map, TBH
Japan, Australia and New Zealand are the biggest victims of the Equal Earth projection. They have some of the most iconic country shapes, but are butchered by this projection.

I've lived in three cities in three separate countries in region A. I guess that's revealed preference!
If you had to live in one of the regions, which would you choose?

While there are net positive carbon emissions, the concentration of carbon in the atmosphere keeps rising and climate change worsens. Net zero is literally the only way to stop further climate change
Nobody has said Ed Miliband is bad because he takes climate change seriously. Ed Miliband is bad because Net Zero is a bad way to deal with it, makes us poorer and actually slows down electrification.

Only took several decades to be approved. Quite quick, really
As a reminder that Britain can actually build infrastructure- Hindhead Tunnel, connecting London and Portsmouth, has recently celebrated its 15th birthday. We can do these things when we put our minds to it - don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Analysis completely devoid of any mention of where the Roman city of Venta Belgarum, "Marketplace of the Belgae" was located, which was quite a way from Picardie
Did you know that the first region to be called "Belgium" in history had very little in common with modern-day Belgium?

Sheffield Wednesday, Nottingham Forest, Plymouth Argyle, Arsenal, Eintracht Frankfurt, Atletico Bilbao, Ajax Sporting Lisbon, Shaktar Donetsk, Brann Bergen, Sparta Prague. You're asking for a pretty European naming scheme
The MLS has room to grow in a few ways, but 1 major thing sticks out: The team naming conventions. I’m watching a game between “San Diego FC” and “FC Dallas.” We are not in Europe. We don’t call our soccer teams “football clubs.” Why the hell are we integrating foreign nomenclature into the top level branding of a team? It reads like we are trying to be someone else. Beyond that, “FC Dallas” doesn’t even make sense in English. “Football Club Dallas” puts the modifier “Dallas” after the head noun “Football Club.” That is Romance language construction—grammatically common in Spanish or French, but not in English. So not only are we using foreign terminology, we are also forcing foreign grammar into our brands. And then the core of the issue: bucking a ubiquitous trend in all other American sports. Literally every other American team uses the same nomenclature: City + Mascot/Nickname The Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Red Sox, Washington Capitals… It’s the city and a thing. It tells you where they are from and gives you some semblance of a brand to assign to the idea of the team. “FC Dallas” gives you nothing. No imagery, no brand, just a bland technical “name” to use to refer to the team. This is just one of the many “foreign” things about US soccer that just make it hard to get into as an American fan. If you want to take over the American market, you have to be authentically American. The MLS simply does not present that way in its current form. If anything, they come across as wannabe Europeans. Until the MLS manages to own its American nature, they will struggle.

Let's make sure people on benefits cannot take their kids to the zoo. Make sure we really punish those kids. Sorry, some people on benefits. Those on the pension benefit get a discount and no-one complains
Was booking tickets for Edinburgh Zoo this weekend. Noticed people on Universal Credit get a discounted rate. Adult ticket: £30. Adult ticket (UC): £8. A 73% difference. No shade to people on UC. But why are we being punished for having a job?

A) why on productive and not unproductive farmland? B) evidence solar panels can improve animal health and make land more productive C) it's not either or D) how much oilseed rape could we replace with more efficient energy E) land coverage needed less than that of golf courses
“the idea has an obvious attraction. Rather than covering productive farmland – 17,000 acres of solar farms are planned in Norfolk alone – solar carports make use of land that is already covered by asphalt.” Why is govt rejecting it?

I have many, many times been prevented from sending my girl to the ladies. I had complaints when I changed her nappy there because there was no table in the men's, and she had to shower with the boys after swimming because mothers wouldn't let me send her in with the girls.
Girl dads: Do not bring little girls into the men's room. We do not want little girls exposed to adult, male genitals. You are welcome to bring your girl(s) into the women's restroom. Just give a knock, say you're a girl dad coming in, and you'll be fine.

So bad, the only way to get some respect back is thrashing Ipswich
Have not known a fanbase that has so much disdain towards their own players as Leicester fans. Deservedly so. Players are stinking out the division. The fans deserve more.
