As America reaches it's 250th birthday I'd like to reflect upon the principles that brought us to this point and where we go from here. There are two paths ahead of us & we are deciding which one we will take. Are we going continue to lead the world or will we choose stagnation?

It’s pretty cool that even as fast food slop becomes ridiculously overpriced America does mid (and even lower) end steakhouses really well. It’s your right as an American to eat a delicious restaurant steak withal a couple good sides at a reasonable price point.
I never imagined we’d become regulars at Outback Steakhouse But their prime rib is legitimately good Got a 16 oz medium rare cut with tallow fries & a sweet potato for $34 while watching the World Series & UT games Not a sponsored post (but it should be!)

This is the fix everything button, anyone who is a net negative when it comes to welfare programs versus the taxes they contribute shouldn't be voting, they should get off those programs and then get back to voting. This would fix virtually every political problem we have today.
a very simple solution to virtually every problem would be to stop allowing people who live off taxpayer money to vote anyone whose entire livelihood depends on the government taking money from other people will always vote for a government that takes more money we’ve built a system where people can literally vote to give themselves more of other people’s money the conflict of interest is beyond ridiculous and if you remove the incentive you remove the problem

The point of no return by Richard von Mises is worth reading: "A state becomes almost unreformable when the majority of the population is financially or structurally dependent on the state (state employees, civil servants, recipients of subsidies, grants, or transfer payments, etc.). As soon as those who net benefit from or are supported by the state outnumber those who do not, the system blocks reforms, since the majority votes out of self-interest for the preservation or expansion of state services." Does this sound familiar? Some European countries, France, Belgium, Finland are already way beyond that point, closely followed by Germany, Spain, Austria and Italy. It works for a while, as long as markets buy more sovereign debt at reasonable interest rates. The party ends when they stop though. For France, they stopped this month, Belgium will be next. The longer the socialist illusion persists, the more painful the inevitable cuts and adjustments will be. It’s pure arithmetic. Good luck Europe, good luck Euro. Buckle up, it won’t be pretty.

As a middle manager (who is also a very knowledgeable engineer) I'm not worried one bit; most of my job is coordination, shifting schedules, making sure people are updating their own schedules (which are inherently unrealistic but due to dynamic projects we shift things out constantly). Also, meeting with my team with a daily stand up as well as monthly 1:1s, keeping a constant cap-ex going. Just checked in on my team in China (fired off an email to R&D), constantly getting everyone's timesheets in...there is no shortage of work, we're understaffed and don't even have time for innovation.

Dems are pulling a bait and switch this midterm. They’re for all the same insane cultural ideas and haven’t backed down at all, but they want to convince you that it’s not worth talking about. They’re still all in favor of men in women’s spaces, they just want to convince you you’re a weirdo for mentioning it.
“They merely want us to stop talking about the consequences of their ideas and policies on women and girls.” @InezFeltscher responds after James Talarico blames rising GOP “extremism” for his controversial “God is non-binary” & “six sexes” remarks. Via @FoxNews foxnews.com/media/james-tala…

Why have no high profile Democrats spoken up against these fans who are attacking people for XX|XY shirts? It's such a clear violation of freedom of speech and there are physical attacks and vile comments involved, what happened to the left? xitter.cf/JackThompsonFOX/status…
BREAKING: The US Department of Justice is reviewing the forceful ejection of fans wearing XX-XY t-shirts at Friday's Portland Thorns game. "The Justice Department is aware of these reports and will review the matter thoroughly. Where the facts and the law warrant action, the Department will not hesitate to act." A DOJ spokesperson also told me, "Based on what is known so far, the conduct described appears to raise viewpoint discrimination and First Amendment questions rather than sex discrimination. The Department is reviewing it."

Has anyone else noticed this urge on the left to be completely against anything AI? It feels so strange that a group with the label "progressive" operating like a Luddite against data centers, AI companies, use of AI and they feel like they can "stop it" by being against it.
I'm on the losing side of what will be a complete cultural rout within like 10 years, I bet, because kids will grow up with this stuff, but trying to make AI that is totally indistinguishable from humans, outside of chatbot contexts, just seems really bad.

Bend, Oregon man who shot and killed a shooter at his daughters' school speaks out, praises female teacher for fighting the shooter, allowing him to have a clear shot. Kaylub Giamanco says he is haunted by the sound of children pleading for their lives. He also praised the teacher for grabbing the gunman's weapon, allowing him to take a shot at the shooter. "I want to recognize [the teacher]. She gave me the opportunity to make my shot without losing my life..." "I swung the door open, and I stepped in, and I fired, and they dropped to the ground... I looked down at the gunman, and he was scrambling for his weapon. And I looked at him, and I shot him 2 more times..."

We're about to go through something big, I'm not 100% sure if it's going to be a path into AI taking over (which will change everything, it won't be pretty) or if it's a crash with the AI stocks similar to the dot com boom & bust but either way it's going to be big, very big!

Massive changes are coming, I can't see the future but after watching some clips of the Big Short I decided to watch the documentary Inside Job just so I can start to pick out clues of a propped industry if that's where we end up going in the next few years.

It's so helpful to see activism as a religious furvor. Christian women pelting heratics with crosses and calling them witches would be recognized as a manic form of hysterical zealotry. That's exactly what is happening here.
Just got forcibly kicked out of a Portland Thorns game because people were hitting my group with trans flags over our feminist shirts. Living in the upside down . @BrandiKruse

I don't really agree with this at all, but I am a little struck by the astonishing advances in the tech world in the last 5 years and how little that had trickled down into the world my kids and non-tech friends inhabit
The quality of life in the United States is really going downhill. Most people don’t notice it because they have short memories and are just busy living their lives. You don’t really notice the change from one day to the next. But in the last 5-10 years things have gone down dramatically. This has happened under Democrats and Republicans and I don’t see it getting any better. In fact I think things are going to get a lot worse in the future than they currently are.

Crazy, do people not work anymore? I just tried to get my oil changed at 10:40 am on a Friday morning and the oil change location was completely packed with around 10 cars for 3 slots...

Checked again an hour later, still packed, looks like a van was blocking the 3rd lane still...maybe that's done to show that it's not open and there's ongoing work with it.

The income needed to afford a home has pulled far ahead of what most Americans earn. You now need over $120,000 a year to afford a median-priced home, per the Atlanta Fed. The typical U.S. household earns $87,460.

I just want to make a point real quick. For 30 years the Minnesota GOP supported and defended the Somalian community in Minnesota. GOP voters were told "These are natural conservative voters". The Minnesota GOP called their own voters racist when concerns of crime and non assimilation were brought up. Somalians have never once ever voted for the GOP. They are 80-20 Democrat voters and this was after the GOP catered to them and turned over their own communities in Minnesota to them for 30 years. Below is a video of the 3rd most powerful congressman in the national GOP calling voters in St. Cloud racist for not wanting Somalians being dumped in their city. Anyone who tells you to ignore how a group votes and tells you to instead cater to them so that group one day votes for you is either lying or stupid.

Two former senior FBI officials, Nikki Cole Floris and Bradley Benavides, were taken into custody today on charges of allegedly lying to Congress about their involvement in the FBI’s investigations into Hunter Biden. The charges stem from an ongoing investigation into the since-dissolved FBI Foreign Influence Task Force. Floris led the FITF as a Deputy Assistant Director from mid-2019 through mid-2022. Benavides was the FITF Section Chief from mid-2019 through the 2020 election. Both testified that the FITF was not involved in the Hunter Biden investigations. Documentary evidence, contemporaneous communications, and witness accounts contradict their testimony. Floris is also on record privately claiming to be “running a shadow government” during the 2020 election in her role on the FITF. Lying to Congress by senior FBI officials strikes at the heart of our system. No one is above the law. The FBI has already dismantled the corrupt CR-15 squad that engaged in political weaponization targeting their opponents, including President Trump. Thanks to @TheJusticeDept @FBIKansasCity and @USAttyPirro. -DKP🇺🇸
