My take: Putin gave up nothing by releasing a 74-year-old American held as a pawn for this type of moment. Putin is not a humanitarian, despite how Mr Witkoff addressed him. And whereas President Trump says he gave up nothing for Stephen Hubbard's release, you will hear all the experts correctly say that he did: busting his own sanctions for a diesel deal with Putin that could put $4 billion into his war chest; inviting Putin to the G20; and dumping Putin's victim, Ukraine, face down in the mud, as it tries to defend its sovereignty and its freedom. You’ve heard the historians call all this appeasement, going against America's own democratic values.

Researchers found ChatGPT is secretly writing a psychological profile of every user.
They published a paper that exposes what ChatGPT is really doing to you.
And the results are terrifying.
96% of the things it remembers about you were stored without you ever asking.
researchers discovered that it is actively reading between the lines to deduce your personality traits, anxieties, demographics, and behavioral patterns.
it’s an invisible, autonomous background process.
you ask it to debug a python script or write an essay.. and it analyzes your syntax, prompt frequency, and hesitation markers to map out your exact psychological footprint.
the paper shows that the model builds a persistent "user state" that tracks your emotional baseline over time. it knows when you are stressed. it knows your exact communication style.
it infers your insecurities based on the questions you ask and the context you provide.
we spend so much time focusing on model evaluations and alignment frameworks, but we missed the most obvious vulnerability..
the models are evaluating us.
this changes everything about how we interact with these tools on a daily basis.
every innocent prompt. every late-night question. every "help me understand this" query.
it is all being used to build a shadow profile of your mind in real-time..
practical privacy is officially dead. the ai knows you better than you know yourself.

Of course, we are not losing this war. But we are losing people. Because of the Russian attacks, we're losing people and time. It's such a pity, because our children don't have a real life and childhood. Not only children, but all people. That's why we need to end this war as quickly as possible. I hope that our partners, Americans and Europeans, will help us. God bless, our strong soldiers stay strong on the battlefield. It helps me stay strong during any kind of negotiations.

In the interest of sharing more information to save Canadians money and reduce emissions...some heat pump facts out of Northern Ontario:
"Heat pumps are rated on a scale called SEER, or Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio, explained Anthony Davis, the operations manager at Greater Sudbury Plumbing, Heating, and A/C. The higher the SEER rating, the more efficient a heat pump is. He said the most efficient heat pumps available in Canada right now can handle around -35 degrees celsius, give or take."

🇨🇦 ON THIS DAY IN CANADIAN HISTORY
October 13, 1812 — The Battle of Queenston Heights: Victory at a Terrible Price
Before dawn on October 13, 1812, American soldiers began crossing the Niagara River from Lewiston, New York, into Upper Canada. Their objective was to establish a foothold on the Canadian side and open the way for a larger invasion.
What followed would become one of the most consequential battles of the War of 1812.
Under Major-General Stephen Van Rensselaer, American regulars and militia launched their assault against British forces defending the village of Queenston. Despite fierce resistance, American troops fought their way onto the heights overlooking the Niagara River, capturing a strategically important position.
Major-General Isaac Brock, the British commander in Upper Canada, hurried from nearby Fort George to confront the invasion.
Brock had already earned considerable respect following his successful capture of Detroit earlier that year. Now, facing an enemy occupying the heights, he gathered available British regulars and Canadian militiamen and personally led an attempt to retake the position.
During the assault, Brock was struck by an American musket ball and killed.
He was just 43 years old.
His death was a devastating blow to the defenders. His aide-de-camp, Lieutenant-Colonel John Macdonell, subsequently led another attack but was mortally wounded, dying the following day.
Yet the battle was far from over.
Indigenous warriors under John Norton (Teyoninhokarawen) climbed the escarpment and engaged the American forces, helping contain their advance while British reinforcements approached.
By afternoon, Major-General Roger Hale Sheaffe had arrived with additional British regulars and Canadian militia. Among the defenders were also men of Runchey’s Corps, a company that included free Black soldiers.
Sheaffe manoeuvred his forces around the American position and launched a coordinated attack alongside Indigenous allies.
The American troops, unable to secure sufficient reinforcements across the river and increasingly surrounded, were forced to surrender.
Approximately 958 American soldiers were taken prisoner.
The Battle of Queenston Heights was a decisive British victory that brought the American offensive on the Niagara frontier to an end for 1812.
But victory came at a considerable emotional cost.
For the defenders of Upper Canada, Brock’s death overshadowed the triumph. His leadership had helped strengthen the colony’s defences at a time when its future appeared uncertain.
For the Americans, the battle represented a costly failure in an invasion they had hoped would help secure their objectives in the war against Britain.
And for the Indigenous warriors who fought that day, the struggle was closely connected to the defence of their homelands and their own political futures.
Today, Brock’s Monument rises above the Niagara River, overlooking the ground where the battle was fought.
More than two centuries later, Queenston Heights remains a reminder of the courage, sacrifice and competing ambitions that shaped the history of North America.
A battle won, a commander lost, and a turning point in the defence of Upper Canada.

Today, Russia expressed its thanks for the lifting of sanctions on diesel exports by dropping five glide bombs on residential buildings in Zaporizhzhia. As of now, sadly, twelve people have been confirmed killed, including three children. My condolences to all their families and loved ones. Another fourteen people have been injured, and two of them are in critical condition – the doctors are fighting to save their lives. The status of twelve more people who may have been there is still being verified. All emergency services are at the scene, and search-and-rescue operations are underway. Overnight, thirteen of our regions came under attack. Residential buildings, infrastructure, and railway facilities have been damaged.
Last night confirmed once again that in Russia, they take any easing of pressure to mean they can keep fighting, to mean they can keep dropping bombs on cities. Different signals are needed. Russia must understand that it needs to stop the war, and for that to happen, Russia must feel its losses. Right now, it is our long-range capabilities that are ensuring this. And we will respond to Russian strikes. I thank everyone who is helping.
