This is heartbreaking.
Even more heartbreaking that it's not the first time the athletics community has lost such an incredible female athlete to domestic violence. 💔
It needs to stop! RIP Rebecca. 🙏
We're sorry to report that Rebecca Cheptegei has sadly passed away.
The Ugandan has succumbed to her injuries after she was doused in petrol and set alight in her home in Kenya.
Cheptegei suffered burns to 75% of her body after an alleged attack by her former boyfriend.
Only last month, she represented Uganda in the marathon at the Paris Olympics.

“For the worst night of my life, I was bound with rope. For the rest of my life, I am bound by ethernet cords to the company who made money off my rape. I was 16 years old. My pain is profitable for MindGeek [P*rnhub]”

How beautiful would it be if we said to people we loved: “I’m not feeling like my best self today, can you remind me of who I am?” And that person said a few reasons why they appreciate you, for you. Appreciation and connection heal us.

*Leadership*
‘The standard you walk past is the standard you accept’
This is so important for all levels of leadership in schools. Model this to colleagues when walking the school
When leaders accept standards against the school expectations it weakens the culture – at Northwich, England

We need to be more trauma informed when it comes to staff, way too many education staff have been bullied, belittled & hounded in schools. Toxic people & schools leave a lasting mark so something as simple as saying “pop into my office when you have a minute” can be terrifying.

Things I say while on hallway duty now:
"Please text that to me because I will forget."
"Email me or I won't remember."
"Wait . . . text it to me. Right now."
"Remind me."

For non-Indian followers - this week, 11 men who gang raped a pregnant Muslim woman and killed her daughter by smashing her head into the ground during the 2002 Gujarat pogrom were released and greeted with sweets. Their application for remission was approved unanimously.

10 ways to kill your culture (or make sure it's terrible from the beginning).
Someone asked me if I could expand on the list below that I originally tweeted here: xitter.cf/markbrooks/status/1341…

Last night a stranger called me a faggot before beating the shit out of me. He left me with a fractured eye socket, 2 fractures in my ankle, a dislocation in my ankle & some other minor injuries. We’ve come a long way but still have such a long way to go in terms of equality.
