Congratulations, President @LulaOficial, on your re-election in Brazil.
The relationship between Canada and Brazil has flourished under our partnership. Let’s seize this opportunity to make it even stronger, together — to create major new trade opportunities, protect the environment, and build greater prosperity for both our peoples.

Brazil’s results tonight are a big endorsement for the idea that every country should have a second “are you you sure about that” election a couple weeks after the first one for the important stuff

Prediction markets also bombed having Bolsonaro around 80% at close of polls. Given that that was in no way a valid read off very close and herded polling, they thought the polls were underselling him.

After wrongly having the incumbent ahead in the first round Brasilian pollsters hedged and herded on a narrow win for the challenger in the second only to be mostly wrong again. (Lula somehow won by 3.5, an unremarkable polling miss overall but the herding is spectacular).

Swap Lula for Burnham and 2022 for 24 and I'm tentative to say, whatever happens in the next few years, we'll be making the same observation here in 28/29. xitter.cf/OwenWntr/status/211452…
Piss off Pauline

‼️ We've reached the crossover in counted votes, and I'm confident enough to call the election.
Lula will be RE-ELECTED as president of Brazil (>99% chance).

The atmosphere is amazing, all the cars honking, fireworks, people smiling at every passerby, truly a holiday. I'm posting this so I can savor the moment forever. I'm not forgetting the MAGA cadavers who took part in Vučić's last grip on power though, your time will soon come.

First Hungary, now Serbia. Next US midterms? Corruption really pisses people off.
Yesssssss
I have just spoken by phone with the leaders of the Students' List @studentblokade, who won the elections in Serbia, to congratulate them on their victory. I assured them of Hungary’s support. I was delighted to hear how much strength our victory in April had given them during this difficult struggle.

I expect Reform’s poll collapse will now accelerate. Their entire strategy has been based on claiming they represented the only viable alternative to Labour. And it’s now imploded.
We have Tory-Reform crossover. Average of 6 polls from different companies, fieldwork 16-23 Oct
Lab 28.8%
Con 22.2%
Rfm 21.7%
Green 9.5%

I think we should all leave Meghan Markle alone, and also do old white men ever live in the Philippines for non-perverted reasons?
Throwing council officers under the bus when you get righteous pushback really is the chef’s kiss here. Claiming credit for blocking an affordable supermarket, celebrating that and then chucking council workers to the wolves. So very progressive.
Greens UK down five. That Zionism motion alongside the leader’s personal mistruths are going to have a long tail I suspect.

The visceral disgust people have to Ramaswamy's ad is heartening -- and it goes beyond politics.

Venues are *pulling out* of hosting Vivek Ramaswamy for his final bus tour across Ohio.
“We’re getting calls that people don’t want him there,” a top Ohio Republican says. “It’s that damn ad.”
