I miss those days when people would gift you a book and write these little notes on the front page ughhhh😫
I don’t want to jinx it, but we have never had a problem with Bonitas!! We’re not even on full medical aid, it’s a hospital plan with separate gap cover and we’ve been so well looked after. That’s including the birth of children, emergency incidents, operations etc.
Dear @Discovery_SA
I’ve trusted you with my health for over 16 years, investing not just my trust but my money—no loans, no credit, just a genuine commitment to your services. Today, I am at the hospital, admitted with severe abdominal pain that’s almost unbearable.
Yet, I’ve been told that the hospital is still waiting for your approval before I can receive medication or any relief. I am left to endure the pain while waiting for approval.
Despite having comprehensive cover and choosing Discovery for my health and other financial needs, this experience is profoundly disappointing. Healthcare should never be delayed when it’s most needed.

Dear Premier @alanwinde
I am writing to express my profound disappointment and frustration at the complete lack of response from your office regarding the ongoing crisis of animal abuse and neglect in the Western Cape.
Over the past months, I have sent more than twenty emails to your office, as well as to mayors and councillors across our province. Not one has resulted in meaningful engagement or action. The silence from those entrusted with protecting the vulnerable is unacceptable.
Every day, we rescue animals that have been chained without food or water, left to starve, beaten, neglected, and abandoned. We see mothers struggling to keep their puppies alive while they themselves are emaciated and suffering. We report these cases, yet time and again, warnings are issued instead of meaningful enforcement. The cycle of cruelty continues because those responsible rarely face consequences.
As someone working on the ground through animal rescue, I witness this suffering firsthand. Volunteers and charitable organisations are carrying a burden that government should be helping to address. We cannot continue to do this alone while our pleas for support are ignored.
Your government's silence sends a devastating message: that animal cruelty is not a priority.
That is why I am informing you that I will no longer accept being ignored. If your office continues to refuse to engage with these urgent concerns, I will take this matter to the media and the public. The people of the Western Cape deserve to know that repeated requests for intervention have gone unanswered while animals continue to suffer every day.
This is not about politics. It is about compassion, accountability, and the responsibility of government to uphold and enforce the laws designed to protect animals from abuse.
I am calling on you to:
Acknowledge receipt of this letter.
Meet with representatives from animal welfare organisations.
Strengthen enforcement against animal cruelty and neglect.
Ensure municipalities and law enforcement respond effectively to reported cases.
Demonstrate that the Western Cape Government is committed to protecting the most vulnerable.
History will judge us not by what we said, but by what we did when innocent lives depended on us.
I sincerely hope you choose action over silence.
Yours faithfully,
Laurika Stander

One of my favorite human traits is when someone sees the moon and immediately feels the need to tell someone else to go look at it.
“I hope I've demonstrated that you can face anything, you can face the end of your days, you can face hell with dignity. Fight, girls, and hold your heads high. Billie and Georgia, you are my heart, you are my everything. Goodnight. I love you.

Is there anyone besides a robot to speak to @FlySafair 😮💨🙏🏻 it’s been an entire day on the WhatsApp line, to no avail. And now even when check-in is open, I’m told I can only check-in in 15 minutes?! Your codeshare with Air Seychelles also means no direct updates. Pls help 🙏🏻
The first editor I ever worked for (B2B magazines), upon my resignation, told me “you’ll never make it in consumer magazines”.
I sent him a birthday email one year later, purely so he could see my signature (back then):

Dear freelancer,
You’ve figured out how to get people to pay you for your creative talent.
You’re literally paying the bills with it. You’re building a business out of the creativity that very few nurtured.
You should be so freakin’ proud of yourself.
That’s amazing news. Any recourse or contact details where drivers can reach out if they are not receiving their tips? 😊
Replying to @Ms_LynetteB
I can confirm that the tip is split equally across shoppers and drivers involved in a single order😊

If you message me and I never respond,
Just know I stress about it every single day because I haven’t figured out how to respond so now it's become a memento to my guilt that I see and feel bad about non-stop.
(...or I forgot that the message or you even exist)
Hey @OneCartZA what’s your tipping policy? On the app it says ‘shared between driver and grocery picker…’ When I tipped my driver a little extra cash today (just because) he was so thankful and said they rarely see the app tips. Is this true? Where’s the cash going?
